Easy, they're sociopaths.

One thing I've learned from politics is to never trust a politician to look out for your best interests, because they're all as crooked as a dog's hind leg (save a few that have managed to avoid the temptation of corporate money). They might run on good intentions, but as soon as they reach the National Mall, and get lobbiest money waved in their face, they loose touch with the same people that got them elected.

You see, they're not looking out for us anymore, they're looking out for a very, very small group of people that control the vast majority of money in the US (and, dare I say, the world?). Laws like these are just to protect the aristocracy, not us. They know the people are getting wise to their bull**** (some, at least), and they're trying to put the squeeze on us.

This only further confirms to me that Obama is not going to change anything, and is just continuing the corporatist, fascist policies of the last decade (how soon we forget the Bush wire-taps ).

If I suddenly ever disappear from this forum, you know why...

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden
