The two are not terribly different. It's easier to get people to support you if you're working in the name of Allah to rid the world of evil than it is if you say you're attacking the US because they invented Israel and Israel is a jerk.

Yes. I'd certainly hope they'd be sanitary about it and not do it somewhere really creepy like a crowded bus stop where you have to rub elbows with everyone around you but if people wanted to have sex in the park or the beach or their lawn or some equally public yet out of the way place I'd be totally fine with that. If I don't like it then I won't do it. If I don't like that they're doing it then it's no different than how I feel seeing people support the Tea Party.

If religions were not public then ignorance would be even more widespread and their ability to spread the word about what they believe to be essential to salvation would be largely disabled. It is therefor beneficial for both the religion and the general populace that religions be public rather than private.

On a related note if sex were public we'd very probably suffer from a lot less sexual repression as a society so it's at least feasible that there would be benefits to that, too.

I agree... I support Israel, every country has a right to defend themselves. If the muslims stopped launching missiles and blowing themselves up, it would be a different story...
