When I was Spock's age I was pretty much a nihilist as well. Since then I've moved on to an existentialist. As I get older I seem to find more meaning in things that I completely discounted at an earlier age.

Just saying that things don't stop at nihilism. Keep at it.

A lot of people get philosophical as they age.

Alternatively, people can come to a realisation that might have been uncomfortable before., especially if they based a lot around purported meanings. That in itself can often be enough inertia to keep justifying them.

Can meaninglessness exist independently from meaning?

In other words, if the universe does not inherently have meaning, does it also not inherently have meaninglessness?

I think so. It's a bit like the old jokes about how "Is 'Not collecting stamps' a hobby then? Is 'bald' a hair colour then?".

Alternatively, they don't stop at existentialism - that would be depressing. I prefer nihilism because it's actually more accurate
