Exclamation What Needs To Be Done Is; Find A Renewable Fuel Source That Current Engines Can Use.

Something that would really go a whole long way would be to find a renewable fuel that could be used in current engines of cars, planes, ships without any mayor overhauling or total replacement of the engine block or the wholesale removal and replacement of the current vehicles, planes and ships.

Now if we can manage that we would truly be saved from at least another horrifying oil spill as Oil would no longer be needed period. We can then let coal and oil remain where they belong buried deep in the ground, hopefully for eternity.

I know used vegetable oil can be used in Diesel engines with minimum hassle.

Please stay away from ethanol. It is completely retarded to use a fuel source that we already use for human and animal food. It is not an unlimited resource either.

Current engines are inefficient. A lot more than half of all chemical energy in a car is converted into heat and then radiated out of various outflows on the car.

A major replacement of engines is needed to ever use fuel efficiently.

Im all for hydrogen fuel cell. Though expensive right now, I believe is the way forward for many reasons.

Technically, its not entirely ethanol. That stuff just gets thrown out after use.

Bio-diesel is basically used up kitchen oil discarded from Restaurants etc. I know because a neighbor of mine has such a vehicle. All he needs is to load just a bit of regular diesel and then fill the tank with the discarded oil and presto!

Well most of our technology produces more heat than energy we actually use, light-bulbs for example produce more heat than light. But that is besides the point, yes the technology needs to be improved but immediately speaking we need an alternative that is renewable and can be readily used so we can lean ourselves from Toxic oil.

The thing with ethanol, especially corn ethanol is that its completely politics. I remember a few years back when this was first proposed, there was also the option of using a type of grass to make the ethanol but was shot down by the lobby. Exponentially easier and cheaper to grow, more bang for the buck per molecule. The stuff basically grows on the side of highways (its a weed).
