If you're Shell Oil and you want the public to come up with your new advertising slogan, at least you should monitor the website to see what they're writing and voting on: Let's Go Public! Ad Contest Gallery | Shell
Head on over while you can Git Some and contribute! |

The oil companies could not care less WHAT the public thinks about them. THEY have what the public NEEDS, in order to get to work, sometimes at jobs that pay little more that what it takes to BUY the gas, pay the rent, and get some food. These companies make more money per quarter than most COUNTRIES GDP'S.
Every once in a while, when the American public wants to "send a message" to the oil companies, and has a two day "boycott" of the gas companies, the executives and stock holders of those companies have a good belly laugh over their Prime Ribs, or Baked Alaskans. They KNOW that on the third and fourth days, the public will be back in line, buying even MORE gas to fill their now close to empty tanks. In the interim, the oil companies jack the price of the gas a nickle a gallon, so that the "protest" makes THEM a couple of hundred million in two days, then they drop the price to it's original level. You want to "stick it" to the oil companies? Do what Ateyo and I do. We have a Motorcycle that gets SEVENTY miles to the gallon, and are building a tandem, two seat "Trike" that looks like it should be parked at the airfield at Groom Lake, that will get at LEAST the same, and perhaps slightly a bit better due to an extremely low Cd. Our pickup truck, and Jeeps are ONLY used when the mission at hand can only be done by one of them. Hell, we chose an Aircraft that gets 30MPG at 95 MPH. THAT is HOW you keep the oil companies OUT of your wallets. Niri Te |

There you go making mean spirited accusations. I am NOT paranoid about the oil companies, or anything else. "Keeping someone out of my wallet", is an AMERICAN idiom, and I would NOT expect you to understand its ramifications, but Don't use it to make comments about my sanity.
What is MEANT by the phrase, is that I do NOT want to pay one penny more than I HAVE to for my gasoline, and a Scot, should understand THAT mindset completely. As far as your comment about Electric vehicles goes, you are showing your total lack of knowledge of the Geography of West Texas. The size of this county is 4,571 square miles, and the density is LESS than one person per square mile, I believe that the density for the nation of Scotland is 166 per square mile, so it is understandable that you have absolutely no concept of what life is like out here. I think that the best purely electric cars have ranges around 70 miles. That would BARELY get me to the nearest town of 200 people and back. Electric vehicles out here are absolutely WORTHLESS, the distances to ANYWHERE are FAR too great. A 70 mile per gallon motorcycle however, is the BEST way to keep your fuel expenses to an absolute minimum. (Keeping the oil companies fingers out of your money). Before you talk about rain, there again, we live in two TOTALLY different climates, here in Hudspeth County, we average about 5 or 6 inches of rain a YEAR, talk about PERFECT riding weather, so far this year we have received 2 point 33 inches of rain total. For us to ride very high fuel mileage motorcycles is just SMART Niri Te Last edited by Niri Te; 07-17-2012 at 11:19 PM. |

Dang, it's been a long time since I was taken in by something like that. I figured any hoax site would have been sued by Shell for unauthorized use of their logo by now. I wonder why they haven't? Thanks for the info :-(
