Default Help Saving Our Planet - Pandora and the Na’vi exist here on Earth and need our help!

Kaltxì, dear fellow Avatar Fans!

I'm writing this because I have a very important message for all of you.

I've watched the movie for the second time a few days ago, on IMAX, and I was really touched by it. At first, after coming out of the cinema, I started feeling really sad and I just didn’t want to get back to the real world, because Pandora is so much more perfect… And I know that this has happened to many of you too when you watched the movie.

However, afterwards, I realized that Pandora isn’t a fantasy: it exists here on Earth and we are destroying it, just like in the movie! Just think of the great rainforests and all the other wonderful natural places that we have been destroying! And in those places there are people, indigenous populations that, just like the Na’vi, are seeing their lands being destroyed by greedy companies that only care about exploring the natural resources of those places for their own profit. Please read this article, and you will see that what happens in the movie is happening here on Earth too: Avatar is real: Pandora is located in Central and South America and Africa. | venezuelanalysis.com

And to make things worse, the actions of these horrible companies affect the environment of the whole planet! If the Amazon forest is destroyed, one of the main sources of oxygen on Earth will be lost!

Because of this, I’m appealing to you all: let’s stand up for the rights of the indigenous populations, that are the only ones who still understand what it means to live in harmony with Nature (they can See!), and for the future of our planet, so that, one day, we can truly have our own Pandora! If you agree with me, please spread this message! If we can reach the Avatar fans all over the world, we can make a huge difference, we can create a big movement to save our planet! If we are many, we will be able to reach the organizations that fight for the environment and for the human rights, and the governments all over the world.

If you believe this is possible too, help me! Post this message on all the fan websites and groups you know of, share it on the social networks, anything you can think of! Let’s start a movement! Let’s help the indigenous populations and save our Earth!

James Cameron himself has helped this cause too: Avatar Rerelease: James Cameron Sends ‘Message from Pandora’ to Stop Brazilian Hydroelectric Dam | Ecopolitology

And please don’t forget that you can also make an important contribution by helping the organizations that fight for these causes. Here is one that needs help: Essential News on the world's Indigenous Peoples from IC Magazine If you know of other ones, please share it, so that everyone can help.

Please reply and let me know if you agree with me and please share your ideas about how we could start doing something.

Oel ngati kameie (I see you)

Welcome to the boards, SavePandoraOnEarth!

First, I think if you want to reach as many people as possible, then Avatar Forums and Learn Na'vi are both worth visiting. I think both of those communities are a bit bigger than this one.

I think if we - as a fanbase - are to accomplish anything, then we should be a bit more organized than we currently are. Maybe focus our efforts on one, very specific campaign. (Maybe; I confess I'm just speculating.) I'd say most people here know that these tragedies exist in the world today and are not confined to the movie. However, because these things are so multifaceted and are happening in so many places, I think the real question is - what exactly do we do anyway? I think some fans of this movie are feeling overwhelmed - wanting to do something for the world, but having no idea what is the best way to be effective.

I suppose there's more I could say, but I'll keep it at this for now. Again, welcome.

Old redundant copypasta. This might be the weirdest spam I've ever seen here.

Okay, I replied to the other thread and called this spam, sorry if there's a real person behind this post, I just really have a feeling I read this word for word years ago.

No worries, I just decided to give SavePandoraOnEarth the benefit of the doubt though a lot of it is familiar to me too. I figured that a post about sh*t still happening in the world deserved some sort of response.

Lol, I swear I am a real person, and I wrote this text myself last week. xD
I agree with you, Empty Glass, helping a specific campaign is a good idea, at least for a start. I'll try to find something. Anyone has any ideas?

I'm often looking at campaigns connected to climate change as that particularly disturbs me (not that displacement of indigenous populations doesn't)...though I don't always know which campaigns by specific activist groups are the most worthwhile and effective. There are quite a lot of them.

Default Pandora on earth: A reflection upon colletive global viewpoints

Addressing global climate change Is going to take a collective awaking , on the part of the general population , A core collective shift , in our relationship
and awareness to the "big picture" and its impact upon generations to come, once again on a collective global level , people "seeing" and "feeling" our impact upon the natural world around us.
Because as a whole our culture and its leadership has such a "disconnect" from such things and usury takes a rather"self centered viewpoint" in why should I worry I will be long dead before any if these issues will have any impact upon "me" this is very true in the western European mind set
and deeply frustrates native peoples .
This brings a strong light of truth
to the statement " environmental issues at there core are human issues"
Native peoples in there core cultural and spiritual viewpoints "see" the world from a very deep multi-generational Viewpoint and reflect upon the issues they "see" and there impact upon there children's lives .
So my core question is , How can we find ways to "Bridge this Gap" of viewpoints , and get our people on a collective level to reflect upon this as well ?
Then find the drive to collectively "Act" upon these core heartfelt "feelings" we all repress deep inside.
Avatar through its mirror story was a very powerful example of
human creativity applied to just such an issue. and I really don't think
people grasp just how deep an impact the film had upon our collective
core human viewpoints and upon the underlying "feelings" behind our moral
multi-generational inner "accountability" for these issues.
We need a honestly try a different way of speaking upon this issue that allows people to "reconnect" with this
core part of there vital heartfelt understanding "We where all born with"
We need to address , the flaws of "mono-culture" and take a much deeper
look at the core flaws in our economic and leadership system structures that lie at the roots of this issue
This wont be easy But I feel our people are really staring to collectively move on just this issue asking questions
about these structure flaws that lead to roots of our "broken relationships within our community's and the natural world around us" driving this core "sense of separation" and feelings of disempowerment on many levels
When we are dealing with people" behind the scenes that
like this powerful political viewpoint injustice example below reflects upon.
and "see" just how much power and impact Avatar really had and how much politial effort and money is being applied behind the scenes to counter it effect upon there underling "agenda"
one will start to see the scope underlying issues we need to "see" and core address.
in our system and leaderships influence "agenda" applied through the media to externally influence our peoples "viewpoints"

Beautiful but Dangerous Avatar - YouTube

(of course there are leaders in our government that don't share this viewpoint)

When one looks at structure of native community and leadership one will see the core level of wisdom expressed
and there struggle in countering this, native leader "Oren Lyons" speaks upon the core impact and burden
they all carry deep inside, our people need to "see" and understand these "feelings" as well.
Chief Oren Lyons - Keynote Speech: Keeping the Homefires Burning Gathering - YouTube
its my hope that people here will take the time to "listen" to what he has to say.
