Default Stuck Fast, Yet Travelling Still.

I live for this moment.
Not the next,
Not the prior,
But this
Very moment.

I see that,
The future,
Is unpredictable.
So why spend so much
Seeking to predict?

I see that,
The past,
Is just that.
A moment that left,
What seems like an age ago.

All I know is that,
If I give all the love,
I can possbly muster,
In this,
Never ending present...

That both;
The past,
And the future,
Will both look
Brighter.

I am locked,
In a never ending moment.
The emotions change,
But time remains the same.
Always...

Now.

Stuck fast,
Yet travelling still.

--------------------------------------------------------------------------

My first poem in quite a while. I hope you enjoyed it.

Loved it! Exquisite poetry and beautifully expressive. It actually makes perfect sense when you think about it... That the Now is all there ever is. The past comes up Now, and the future only comes by thinking about it Now. Of course, I'm not saying we should deny anything, but the very fact that everything we do, think, and feel, it is all right here and now. It doesn't happen in the past and the future. Those two are an illusion, and the present, is a gift. It's so incredibly simple that people miss it. By compulsively obsessing about the future and the past, you lose yourself in the incessant stream of thinking and forget the precious moment. We lose it by not knowing how to stay alert, aware, and into the present moment completely by not acknowledging what's right in front of us. We're often too much lost into the fog of constant thinking rather than being here. What your poem described, perfectly captures the art of living in the moment. Something that all people have, but merely forgotten.

Very, very well said ma tsmukan. Could not have put it better myself.

A lot of people think living for the moment is a bad thing, but as you said, if you obsess over trying to live the past or the future, you can risk living in a fog. A fog obcsuring the grandeur of everything. If you stop and savour the present, you discover the beauty of life.

Very good poem. It and what Txam said remind me of the movie "Click"

The main character uses the "universal" remote to fast forward his life to a point when he gets promoted, then the next big thing, then the next and before he knows it he is an old man and dying and when he looks back he wonders where it went.

He sees the moments he had and loves them and wished he could of had more of them, at least that's what I think he does.

Remember when we were little kids and always wanted to be older so we could do all the "fun" stuff. And now that we are older we want to be kids again. We spend so much time trying to grow up we forget that living where we are now is part of growing up.

Sorry if this doesn't relate to your poem which was fantastic and brought out many feelings like this in me.

Again for the 3rd time. Great Poem. I look forward to your next.

What you say is absolutely related ma tsmukan.

I really enjoyed what you said about being young. So true. There are times where I said "I wish I was 18" and now that i'm older, I kind of wish I had enjoyed my time while I was there. Having said that, I may not be where I am today, it could have led to a different set of circumstances. All I know is i'm here, right now and i'm enjoying life as much as I physically can. (Hopefully making up for those years we wished away in the process)

An interesting one

As for wishing I was older, I'll admit, I've done it, but I have NEVER wished I was younger... at least not that I can remember. Maybe because when I was younger, when I was at school, when I lived in the most boring town imaginable, when I had nothing important in my life, nothing that defined me, nobody who really understood or Saw me, I was miserable. It's something I never want to go back to.
The future though, I'm not sure any more... I know it's certainly something I'll never wish for again now I've reached this point, but I don't regret having done it before.
