Default Learn To Rhyme.

Here's a poem for yall.

Learn to Rhyme

I see these poems lacking thought
Boring indeed no creativity brought
To write a poem lacking rhyme
Is nothing short of a crime

Meaningful the message very well may be
Though with rhyme it could be expressed more creatively
Ay Ay Bee Bee or Ay Bee Bee Ay
Poems with scheme sound much better that way

In the end it's up to you
I can't control the type of poems you do
Be happy if it gives you bliss
However please consider this

Your poems really ain't worth a dime
As long as you refuse to ****ing rhyme

Ouch, that hurt.

Mah, yeah, I used to do rhyming poems and should take the habit of writing them again; but when you begin to study the movements of the beginning of 20th century you realize that they don't necessarily have to rhyme or even measure 11 syllables each.

I've read a lot of Federico Garcia Lorca and some of his are really good with no rhyme. Some are even poetic prose.

Rhyme is not a must on poetry, it's a tool. And "there are no rules, just tools", as the great Vilppu said.

This.
Rhyming is meh, it can work, but isn't needed for everything.

How about this...

I deem to write,
When words are slight.
I feel no heed,
For rhyme to read.

True feeling comes,
As moment drums,
An emotional beat,
Where words do meet.

For I do jot,
Yet others do not,
Deign a poem as such,
Lacking rhyming touch.

If you cannot feel,
Lest similar heel,
I pity your loss,
And offer rhyming dross.

I did a lot of poems in year 6. They ALL rhymed. Well, apart from the one that got in the school magazine
I'll try and find them later...

...But for now, I recite part 1 of Portal song.

This was a triumph.
I'm making a note here:
HUGE SUCCESS.
It's hard to overstate
my satisfaction.
Apeture science.
We do what we must
because we can.
For the good of all of us,
except the ones who are dead.
But there's no use crying over every mistake.
You just keep on trying
till you run out of cake.
And the science gets done,
and you make a neat gun,
for the people who are still alive.

Most poetry nowadays from the likes of Yeats and Rich hardly ever rhyme. It's about delivering a message with the methods that are most effective like metaphors and imagery. Rhyming is just one of many tools at a poet's disposal.

Exactly... there are no rules of how it has to go... admittedly, I've only ever written one thing in about 5 years, but I still understand that, and I read enough...

To think poetry needs to rhyme is to know little about poetry.

Rhyming is a skill that can really help a poem, but can also hurt a poem.
