Default Site using too much processor resources?

I've noticed that when replying or posting new threads, the processor at my computer goes at 100% usage. Can anyone confirm a similar behaviour?
I'm using Gentoo Linux (linux 2.6.38-gentoo-r6), Firefox 7.0.1

Nothing similar has happened to me. Check your networking setup? Do you have any antivirus programs or similar?

One core on my quad 2500k goes to almost half usage when going to reply mode, with overall CPU usage peaking at 20% at times, which is way too much. I'm using Firefox 7.0.1 with Vista x64.

The animated Na'vi faces use quite much CPU time, because the usage graph drops whenever I scroll down to the bottom of the page where the emoticons are not visible. Also, if I adblock the smilies, the CPU usage drops back to ~3%.

Maybe Firefox is just so bad, that it takes half a core to animate few silly gifs.

No antivirus. Direct connection to internet (not even NAT, my linux box is open to the world!).

Strange, might be an issue with you browser. Firefox has certainly got more and more bloated over time, it regularly breaks 10-20% CPU for me.

The problem seems to be Firefox. I've been navigating the site with Epiphany Web Browser 2.30.6 and CPU usage is within what could be considered normal.

The only time my processor spikes is when the shoutbox loads up, it'll load one core at 70% for a couple of seconds. But it doesn't seem to do anything out of the norm when posting though.

Using Firefox 3.6.23 btw
