Default How Many Hold-outs?

How many of us are trying to buy only one edition of Avatar? I would like to buy the DVD, but once the special edition drops, I'll never touch the theatrical again. Anybody else?

I'm going to not buy the DVD or the blu-ray that has been released now - I will wait until November to buy the Collector's Edition

So, no Avatar for me until November. Makes me kinda sad when I think about it, but also happy when I think of the experience I will get once I get my hands of the CE

I'm a hold out. I thought about getting it now but my husband wants me to curb my spending.. so I will buy the special edition in November. I just hope that my brother buys his copy soon so I won't have to wait until November to see it again .

I'm holding out till November. It is the hardest thing in the world to resist the temptation of getting it now.... it's so close.

I already have two, the blue ray and the dvd. I'll be picking up the others as they come out. My guess is that I will have six versions of the disc. by the time all the different versions come out.

I'll be waiting for the special edition. I have plenty of money to get the one that's out now, but I prefer the best for last. Cheers to those who have the film now, though!

I never planned to...
Let's see:

-Bluray and DVD on the 26th
-Getting the copy signed by Paul Frommer
-In London on Sunday, so going to try to get to the signing and get one signed by Stephen Lang if I can.
-Special edition in November.

I don't have the willpower to hold out, sure I'll buy the Special Edition in November but I've also preordered the Bluray/DVD because I HAVE to watch it

You guys holding out for the "better edition" don't know what you're talking about Them saying they were using all available space for the movie was not marketing hype. It makes a very real difference. The level of quality in the video and audio in this blu-ray is overwhelming. It is the new standard of home theater. This is the best the movie will ever look, this first blu-ray.

What do you mean? I thought the special edition would be better quality?!

I don't see how that would be possible, unless they split the movie onto multiple discs. Avatar as it is consumes the entire 50GB space of a dual layer blu-ray, with no trailers, nothing, just a basic menu and the movie. I have a very nice home theater setup, and this transfer of Avatar is light years beyond anything else in terms of quality.

The special edition will have all kinds of special features, which will be awesome of course, but they will take up space on the disc, requiring more compression of the video and audio.

Hold-out.

After all, I've no blu-ray, and the november one is so much more tantalizing..

Oh, and I think that the special edition will just add in new scenes and stuff- the intense clarity should still remain the same as it is now..

Does anybody know if the special edition will only be playable on 3D tvs? Or will I still be able to watch it in 2D on my regular TV and just wear the glasses?
