Default I Left This World

tonight I experienced Avatar for the first time at home. It was incredible... indescribable... emotional... so many ways to describe my experience. The colors were more vibrant with my new Blue-Ray player, the whole movie looked so astounding... the emotion was still here... I cried throughout nearly the whole movie (my room was filling up with tissues so quickly), my mind was gone with Avatar... I said "goodbye world!" and left without looking back. at the end I cried even more when the text AVATAR appeared and I hugged my TV... yea I hugged it and cried. I didn't want it to end... I wanted it to continue, I never wanted to leave Neytiri, Jake, the Omaticaya, Pandora... (I think I have PAD)... the movie seemed to come and go. I watched all of the credits wishing the story would continue and never end... but it didn't.

Thats my super summed up story of my first night watching Avatar at home... oh heres my set-up

Now if I could just have the den to myself with the big screen...

Edit: and sorry all I haven't been on in a while this weekends been hecktic

I know how you feel. Like I just posted on your other thread, it was a very powerful and intimate experience watching on blu-ray.

Yea i just read that it was indeed powerful and emotional... unfortunately I can't compare my viewings from each other, more I describe them as different stories in themselves

Glad to hear it's just as powerful at home tsmukan I'm starting to think Avatar at home might just be better than the theater.

*btw - the sound must be epic with those Behringer speakers

With the right equipment, mine included, I would rank Avatar on blu-ray higher than any theater viewing except IMAX 3D. The quality on the blu-ray is just astounding.

MmmHmm... It's hard to choose which is better... At home you can watch the movie whenever you want, and the picture quality is just astounding, but at the theater you get a huge (IMAX 3-D ) screen inside a big dark silent room (I haven't had a problem with people talking in my IMAX)

and the sound? Loud and I loved it it was better than I thought I didn't even need an EQ... Because I thought about plugging in my mixer but once the movie started turned out I didn't truly incredibly unforgettabe

I bought the movie on Friday and have yet to watch it. I haven't had the perfect moment where I can be by myself and just whole heartily pour myself into the movie. But don't get me wrong, I want to watch more than anything but I want my first home experience to be perfect.

I'm so happy for you Stanley. It is great that Avatar is as much a moving experience at home as at the theater and I'm very much so thrilled that you and many others have had such great experiences with it.

You say you don't want the story to end. Well, it doesn't have to. Consider this the start of an even greater adventure - your life. Avatar is simply escapism at it best. The key to living a happy life now is making your entire life one big escape.

Good to hear you had such an experience though.

Man, I can't wait to watch it!! I'm trying to hold out for a few weeks until I get my new movie setup, but idk if I can't wait any longer!! Another 2 weeks of not seeing Avatar might kill me!! But then again I want it to be perfect. Hmmm......what to do?!!!

My choices are:

Watch it now on my 15 in. computer moniter with noise cancelling headphones on dvd.

Or wait 2 weeks and watch it on my new JVC 52in. 1080p 120Hz HDTV and Blu Ray player with a 1000 watt JVC surround sound system!

Thoughts? Has anyone watched just the dvd version on a computer?

I'm glad you had such a good experience with Avatar. I felt the same way after reading the Activist Survival Guide. (Amazon ftw) Avatar at home is awesome, however I'm going to wait until November to get the blu-ray. Nice setup too. Overkill? Nonsense! Behringer makes some pretty good equipment. I have a UB1002FX myself.

I haven't watched it on blue-ray myself (Waiting for my autographed copy in the mail), but I definitely think watching the movie is an intimate experience. I really enjoy absolutely getting immersed in Pandora for those 2 hours and 40 minutes. Mmm...

Stanley, you should save up some money and send your family on a vacation for one night so you can take your den!

I have watched it twice on DVD with my system---26' monitor & headphones---late at nite without distractions--I cried both times during the final scene--I have not done the BluRay--I'm waiting until I can buy another one to open--I'm saving the first one unopened for my collection.

I'm using Linux & creating a .iso to save on my harddrive so I have played the DVD only once....I just mount the .iso & play it direct (for Linux users--use Gmountiso & create a .iso with Brasero or Nero Linux--then save it)....Works great & you save the DVD as much as possible.

Great to hear about your experience man, can't wait to feel it on my skin too I'm gonna buy the movie in both formats, at home I have a BR player and here in college the DVD player from the laptop. I wanted to buy the movie the day it appeared in stores but I had some problems with money and I wasn't around any store to do it... college and intoxicating program with the project auctions I've been to.

Can't wait to watch it !
