Question Can anybody explain to me why the humans in Avatar are so horribly dumb & retarded?

Yes you read correctly! Because only somebody that is absolutely dumb and retarded would choose to go on living if you can even call it that on what is essentially a barren and lifeless rock that is Avatar universe Earth.

Why not move to space stations and colonies on the solar system, asteroid belt etc. Earth is basically completely uninhabitable anyway according to both the movie and the guide. So why stay there?

It's expensive and it seems that in that time period, people only care about money and themselves... sort of looks like what this world is right now

It's expensive, people are brainwashed, and the government could care less.

None of the answers make any sense because no known amount of brainwashing can do away with the basic sense of self preservation which obviously the humans in Avatar have completely lost. They are just retarded period.

It is expensive to travel, living in space permanently would not work. We would have to travel as far as Pandora or more which can only carry a limited number of people each way and takes a long time to get there. The price to Pandora is only offset because of the unobtanium that the RDA is mining. So to live somewhere off earth would be much to expensive. They just have to deal with what they have until a greater technology would come along or they kill themselves.

Have you ever heard of space stations? If they can build something like the ship venture Star then they should be able to build orbiting colonies around the solar system, on the moon and mars. Anyway the moon alone contains Helium 3 which is essential for nuclear fusion but again since humans in the Avatar universe are so dumb and retarded they probably do not even tap this resource. And a greater technology for what exactly?

Here is a question? Why do we continue to use fossil fuels? I mean it's ****ing retarded that we do. Why do we continue to accept a downhill life? Because a lot of people are ****ing retarded. Pardon my French.

The RDA has already mined the moon, poluting its atmosphere.
And ISVs aren't space stations. The people are in cryostasis the whole trip.

OK 2 points!

1. The moon does not have an atmosphere in case you didn't know.

2. I never said ISVs where space stations but that if they can build such a thing they can sure build a freaking station.

We are slowly but surely switching to alternate fuel sources though, hence why more and more hybrid and electric cars are hitting the roads. And the second part of the answer would be that many of the cleaner technologies are still in the embryonic stage and just do not produce the amount of power required, And this going off topic as this is about the humans in Avatar universe Earth which obviously never even had the foresight to recycle anything.

Living in a space station would be impractical and a pain in the ass.

It's to damn expensive to do. Period. Thread/

Hey, why is it too expensive? I will not shout.

Because of capitalism. It's the only valid answer. PunkMaister, you are the answer to your own question.

Except it cannot be, If they can build something like the Venture Star which was probably built in orbit because no way that thing was launched from the surface with that size. Means they must have either space elevators or some cheap and efficient way to get materials to and from orbit.
