Default A question that has been bugging me...

Do the Na'vi do the things that we do like sneezing, yawning, sighing, stretching etc?

Just wanted to get some opinions.

I also don't know for sure, but i'd assume so. They are natural defenses. I'm interested if someone knows the answer though!

I'm sure they do.

They're all pretty necessary bodily functions.

Wow haha I haven't thought of that one before! I think in the scene when Jake is first with the Omaticaya, and he's getting into his hammock i think you could probably see a few people stretching and/or yawning from the Na'vi below...
But I woundn't doubt that they don't do those things, they are things that all humans do, and most animals do things as well like stretching, yawning, sneezing... not sure about sighing though... well now that I think about it our dog (I think) sighs.

Well they're human (wait, not...), I think they have also the right of feel bored and yawn, or stretch themselves just when they wake up from the hammocks; no?

Other animals do it, so I would think so.

I'm pretty sure that they have all the functions that humans and most animals have (at least mammals) so I'm sure they yawn, cough, etc.

They definitely cough because after jake wakes up in his avatar body after the fall of hometree, he coughs because of the ash. But i'll have to check to see if there are any stretching or yawning during that hammock scene. I'm assuming they do, I was just curious to see what others thought.

Here's another three for you -
a) When the drivers leave their avatar bodies, do the avatars continue to breathe autonomously?

b) Do they sweat? the reason I ask this is because if they have no bodily hair other than on their head, do they have pores and sweat glands to sweat from?

c) If the prior question is a yes, do they get spots and blackheads?

Yes, they do seem to, just very shallowly (possibly minimal life signs)

The appearance of their skin makes me think yes, although I doubt they do as much as humans.

I'd imagine they don't sweat so much, but I guess theoretically they could

I've wondered whether the avatar bodies keep functioning just like a sleeping body or not when their drivers are elsewhere...what you said makes sense, HNM.

And yes, they do sweat. I was just scrolling through the movie in slow motion (there's so much more to see when things go slow enough! ) and during Jake's fight with Quaritch, there are even streaks of sweat on his skin (yes, I was looking that closely ).

Skin blemishes, I couldn't say, but they do have some spots and freckles. Both Jake and Neytiri have them, that I've seen.

I imagine they function much the same as humans, over all.

On the sweating bit, they definitely do! Take a look at Jake after he first enters the Avatar body. When he stops from his run, there's definitely some perspiration on his face
