Default Cannot feel Pandora

Recently watched avatar on blu ray, and please bare with me, i cannot feel it's warmth or message, is it because i have watched it too much, or that i have analysed it to an extent it is stale in my mind, bland and old. There was not one smirk at quaritch, not one little grin at his character, only little heartache for neytiri and at some point in my life i was breaking into pieces about her. I simply did not connect, was i ready to watch it i dont know. All i know is that despite this, i still sketch neytiri, think about avatar daily and hum the soundtrack. I still love it with all my heart, for the fond memories but is it only old memories now, can there be another?

Meh.
Same thing happened to me a while back. Waited for the DVD release, got a good night's sleep, and took care of homework/school. Try watching it again when you're relaxed, and not be so objective. Think about how the characters would feel, and not about the blu-ray encoding scheme.

Once I got to the theater and once the opening scenes played I got nothing... no goosebumps or shivers or a tear (yea I cry at the beginning, I pretty much cry throughout the whole thing) and even considered just leaving... "If I'm not feeling anything now I don't want to ruin the experience" but then I thought of me driving home, getting home and regretting not staying, so I stayed and once the shuttle left the ISV and boomed into Pandoras atmosphere, I got goosebumps, and I knew I was okay... you might just need to take a break, or watch it when you're relaxed... did setting everything up take a lot of energy?

I had pretty much the same problem that you are having during my first blu-Ray experience. I was so unfocused on the story, spent most of the time trying to find good screengrabs. For me, I think some of my conversations with the wife have gotten to me. I probably won't watch Avatar for a bit in hopes that things will go back to how they were during many of my earlier veiwings. I want the power if the story to grab me. The emotion to return.

Heh, you know this happened to me with alot of paradises (dream worlds, or just vast memories I carry for a long time) and I wondered why. I boiled it down to a simple way: hold the things you love sacred. Stanley does this with the soundtrack 'I think' and so do I, and believe me when I say that your soul will soar and swoop down with every score, every high beat to low, it's pure magic. However not holding things sacred creates a tolerance to them, making them blind to the ear as if it were white noise of a sort. The ripple effect will take place and all of your views, emotions, and even passions involving the world of Pandora will all be skewed and faded away. It's a disaster scenario, it happens to us all too often, because we forget about it and move on with other things. The remedy is using your imagination and starving yourself of the thing you enjoy most; it is the hardest thing in the world to do and when it comes down to month 2 of the wait, you ask yourself the dreaded question you know you don't want to answer: 'Why do I love this so much? What is keeping me here'. The answer is simple and more beautiful than you can truly appreciate it for. This is a portion of my reasoning:
Human beings are capable of delivering the ultimate evil, and even the ultimate deeds. We are the worst and greatest species that the catalog of life has ever known, which makes us the most flexible. Our lifes, our own realities, can be made by ourselves and we can live them the way we want to. Neytiri gained the skills of an excellent hunter and the discipline from a mother of fortitude but yet remaining her innocence through her youth and wondering (her thoughts swim through the unknown, an endless search of true belonging to somewhere, to someone). She did all of these things not only because it is the way of her people, she did it to learn to survive and to know no fear of what is around her. I can harness that saddle on that esteemed horse (ikran, hehe) she rides; in fact, improving myself is the main corner stone of my days I spend. This is Great!!
The explanation is long but the answer is simple Colonel: We are here because we love ourselves, the world, and the people. Knowing no fear to something as mysterious as our world sprouts a new life into us like never experienced before. Even though this world is almost heading to a reality much that of the Earthlings in 2100s, we love our race enough to encourage and lead the change required to prevent it from reaching such an i'll fate. The world... that is up to you to decide on, do not think negative thoughts however, if you can control your life and your actions the way you want to do them, the world is what your making it into.

Do not panic and do not faultier into hesitation, you will remember this feeling again but be sure that if you lose your love for humanity and the possibility to obtain a level purity in your heart, you will lose a good spark that binds you to Pandora, because it is all of those things and much much more (Pandora encourages us to love humanity, even though we screwed it up a bit. Were putting on band-aids, but we need to make more). We have a love for Pandora, tap into that and let it motivate you to the best of it's ability; plus always remind yourself of it with a picture from the tale that is Avatar, preferably one that doesn't just involve Neytiri (maybe Grace).

Like this:

Getting lost with Jake and Neytiri isn't enough, the whole picture welcomes you.

It's only the slowly gaining awareness that pandora (probably) isn't real , not that I wouldn't want it to be , I'd love if it was real , but it's "only" an (great) imagination of a human being , which I'm very thankful for .

Maybe you should consider not watching it every day , for my part , I get kind of overloaded with films if I watch them too often and get bored of them after some time , with Avatar it took alot longer to reach that "oh I know everything already" kind of level , I can already think through the whole movie in my mind without watching it and can speak several passages from memory .

Worked for me too. 6 weeks spent having not seen it at all (which was torture) and then I dropped the DVD in and there it all was again, in most (if not all) of its glory. I hope you find your way back to those feelings again, madman.

Indeed I do hold the soundtrack sacred, because of everything it offers, as well as the movie, and the books. With the movie, its not, "Let's see how many times I can watch it in one week" but my mindset is that this is an incredibly epic movie that went above and beyond all my expectations, I could watch it everyday, but then it would ruin the experience, so I don't. It's like, chocolate, if you eat too much of it you may find the taste of it when you first ate it is gone, and now you don't want anymore of it, but if you think of it as a special treat, and don't eat it constantly, each time you eat it will taste just as good. And sometimes I couldn't see Avatar for nearly 3 weeks and the whole time I craved it so so so badly and when I finally went back it felt amazing. And like my thread when I heard Becoming One of the People/Becoming One with Neytiri, and the books, when I do have time to read them, I throw myself in them (Not literally mind you) and indulge myself in the world, in everything that I read about, it can be mind blowing. Take a break from the movie, like remember when you were thinking about leaving the forums because you thought you sucked Avatar dry? But you just needed a break was all that you needed, wait about 2+ weeks before seeing the movie again, and when you do, don't put so much energy into getting everything ready that you're exhausted, or get stressed out over it, be super excited that you get to experience this incredible epic masterpiece. On your break, meditate over the movie, get yourself super excited to see it again (which is another reason to stick around here on your movie break )

And thanks for using me as an example Apollo *high four*

I'm not sure. I've had a few times which weren't so great, usually because I had something on my mind. Try to come to Avatar with a blank slate so to speak, try to keep everything else off your mind if you can. Watch it undisturbed, all the way through, with the volume up high. Don't let anything distract you.
