Default Have you ever been deep in thought? I have with avatar and with other things.

Alot of times in my life I felt like closing my Eyes and imaging myself falling slowly though water, with dim sun light shining though the water vagoly illuminating the world around me. it happens when I see or hear something deep and emotional and I feel deep in thought and I don't want to stop.

One Example was one night, before I was ready to go to bed, I sat on my bed with all the lights turned off and every thing was pitch-black and listened to "Pure sprits of the forest", "Biolumaneisence of the Night" and "Becoming one of the People/ Becoming one with Neytiri". During it I felt so deep in thought that I felt that I was walking though the Biolumanestent forest very slowly and taking in the enevernment around me.

I feel the same way when I Watch a Cirque du Soleil show Perferably ones like Varekai. The atomosphere gives deep emotion.

If any of you have ever felt the way I do, Please, tell me about it.

P.S. I would not have thought of this thread If it wern't for Standly_9875's thread "Becoming one". this thread is dedicated to him.

I find I can't really just imagine myself in a place like that when listening to those songs (Definitely 3 of my favorite, by the way. Love listening to them in bed!). Rather, I find I sort of go on an emotional journey with the music instead, which is really enjoyable.

Well, on second thought I suppose I do sort of try to place myself in a place of wonder and beauty while I enjoy that journey. I suppose I'm just having a hard time describing it, but I certainly understand what you mead.

I can say for certain that when the music ends, I feel a little sad and let down that it's over- the exact same way as the movie, but to a slightly lesser extent.

Also, a tip for anyone looking to get this sort of thing out of the music: Listen to it very late at night. When you're tired, at least for myself, a lot of my emotional barriers come down and easy to feel the music and it's meaning.

Lol, no offense but you both make it sound like it's actually hard, and sometimes requires music.

I do it all the time. Probably 35-40% of my day is spent in deep thought. My family is distrurbed by it at times, where they just know by looking at my face that I'm "not there".

Unfortunately, I think I've only really had one or two moments that I've really thought about Avatar; the rest of the time I was at AF (and then here with you guys). In those few times I changed my overall belief in life other than ourselves in the universe (which previously I had always held that we were alone). That was about it.

Ah, well for deep thought itself (rather than Pandora-specific and music-specific stuff), I usually do that sort of thing when I'm driving. Set the hands and feet on autopilot, and think about life.

I had several revelations last year during my daily 35 minute commute to school!

Heh I'm guilty of the "I'm not there" faces XD I tend to be really quiet and use that quietness to think about almost everything I can think about.

I agree with Woodsprite. Is this an unfamiliar state for most people? I honestly have no idea. I spend alot of my time "in deep thought", lol. My mom said that in preschool she'd have to call my name a few times to get my attention. I will respond to questions automatically completely focused on what's going on in my head, and my family has developed "trigger" words to help me "snap out of it" (right now one of them is "Jake" XD). I do this alot in the car, while doing chores, while stocking shelves, while walking, etc. It is in this state where I create--ideas, character concepts, lines of dialogue, images for drawings, even things I want to post here, lol. Music carries such strong emotion and thought that I often use it as a way of enhancing this experience. I have a very vivid imagination and the music often "tells" me what to "see." I do think about Avatar, it pretty much consumed my thoughts in the first month or so after I saw it. There's more I want to say, but I'm too tired to figure out how to say it, lol

I, for one, often enter deep thought almost subconsciously, sometimes when I'm just resting, listening to music or just reading a provoking book.. it somehow lets me open my mind and ponder much more intriguing stuff.. and yea, Avatar does induce these thoughts relatively often, especially when listening to the soundtrack (since that's pretty much the Avatar-related thing I do daily due to time constraints)

Although once in a while friends of mine would nudge me and wonder what the heck I was thinking about.. was pretty much staring right into empty space

Like Aoitennyo, I tend to find myself thinking about many things, especially when walking somewhere. I kind of just go into an automatic mode where I kind of think about nothing and everything at the same time. It's hard to describe.

A lot of the times, the thoughts are Avatar related but other times they are just general thinking. It really depends what mood i'm in, (usually) what music i'm listening to at the time and what the environment is.

What makes me really sad is during these times, I have a lot of creativity going on too but I can't get it down most of the time. Thoughts, images, stories, poetry and especially music. I find I create music in my head all of the time and (dare I say it) it's really good. What I don't have is the skill to recreate this music in a physical form, something i'm trying to learn how to do via computer programs now.

I can trigger deep thought on command actually. However in other environments, I can go deeper than normal. For instance, battle meditation. When your in the middle of performing a duty (doing chores around the house, errands, at work/school, etc.), you lose yourself and get lost in a thought that you plunge into, which is when your imagination takes the reigns of your consciousness and rides it till you 'snap out of it'. In a scenario like you put it, I would probably be extremely deep in thought that I would sleep by accident. I sometimes mistake deep thinking with imaginative thinking, but one thing is certain about their difference.

Imaginative thinking is coming up with new ideas from combined ones, as deep thinking is rambling from one subject to another.

Einstein said that if you read or sit around too much, the mind is prone to get lazy with abundant thoughts. He's right about yet another thing. :\

A recent time when I was triggered into deep thought was one Evening I was waiting for dinner to be cooked and My Parents Turned on some music and it was the Ka Soundtrack. the music was so beautiful and Emotional that I Just had to just sit on the couch by the speakers and think in deep thought.

In Fact, that moment gave me the Idea to Write this tread.

Wow, a lot of you are describing me here . LOL. Actually, I have always "daydreamed" or been deep in thought for years. In fact, that is where I have had the most creativity in thinking up ideas for my orphaned book that I need to get back to...argh. It is especially helpful to listen to music while thinking. I used to always listen to music late a night to go to bed. I would stay up for a while, thinking. I'm glad to know that I am not alone in doing this .

I Found the word that discribes the feeling: in a Trance. In fact I just created a new thread on songs that are deep and entrancing.
