Default The Magic is Gone...

So I watched Avatar tonight, alone, no disturbances and well... that feeling is gone. Not to say I didn't enjoy it, but I figured some of that first time wonder might come back after a few months. I'm not sad about it, just a little disappointed. Immediately afterword I watched the car chase at the end of the Bourne Supremacy, and that brought my spirits up. I still love the universe in a different way, and that's a good thing. Like watching a cartoon from your childhood and sort of being filled with glee, just not wonder.

Wait a bunch of months, that's what I'm doing, and I already have that undying urge to see it again the way I did after my first viewing after two months or so, minus the PAD.

Yeah. It's never as good as the first time. That sense of wonder and awe the first time I went to see Avatar, I'd do almost anything to get it back. I wish I could go back in time and experience Avatar for the first time again.

I tried that also. Sadly, the wait several weeks until you can't stand it anymore approach doesn't work for me either.

Well, I don't have any advice to offer, just sympathy.

Basically, I feel your pain. *hugs*

The magic hasn't gone away for me yet but I'm going to wait a while before watching it again. Even if it did, it's had a lasting impact on me that will never go away

I understand, I had the same thing. I wish I could go back to that intense emotion at seeing it the first two times, but if it's not going to happen, it's not going to happen. Maybe one day. It's like falling in love; the lust phase doesn't last forever, but that doesn't mean there isn't a permanent relationship. It's just different. I find it becoming more subtle. Keeping up the new sense of purpose is a process of constant self-examination and reevaluation.

I know how you feel, I can still watch Avatar and love it to death and enjoy it but that sense of amazement has been slipping away. Avatar doesn't seem like its foreign but instead familiar.

Nah, I still love watching Avatar. Not as much as before but still.

I don't really blame you though. Avatar's been out for like 7 months now and to try and get the same feelings from the first viewings is next to impossible :/

I guess the best thing to do is to try new things. I'm just glad that didn't not enjoy watching the movie again. (Yes this is a double negative, which is grammatically frowned upon, but it drives in the point better that way).

Oh and this might not be relevant, but I just remembered that Avatar is a 3D movie. I know it's weird that I forgot...

I stopped watching Avatar two weeks ago, because I think that I can't experience the great feelings that I was able weeks before. I decided to suspend watching the movie untill re-rlease in cinemas and I hope it will bring back some of it's magic for me.

I love watching Avatar but I _hate_ the depression that always seems to follow it.

I haven't touched the DVD box for two months now.. but still remember the last time.

Yeah, same here. Haven't seen it in weeks and I wanted to watch it yesterday, but after 1 hour it seemed that magic was almost gone and I was tired so I just turned it off. Dunno, maybe I will get back to it before November, but it's sad that the feeling has almost disappeared. Very sad only! I wish I could erase my memory and watch it again and again for the first time.

Last time I saw avatar was in cinema, more than 2 months ago, and I must say...

I am in the same seat as you others. Much of the magic is sadly gone... I'll wait for the re-release in cinemas in a few months, and see it again then. Maybe I will.. feel more, when I haven't seen it for a good while.

Everybody gets tired of a certain thing after a while, the magic cant completely be gone, or else none of us would be here. The magic isn't completely gone for me, I saw a trailer for Avatar yesterday on TV and I couldn't help but go 'WHOO!', if we lost complete interest we would go 'Meh...'.

Im going to take at least 3 weeks off Avatar before it's re-release anyway.
