What if Jake and Neytiri switched places...
If Jake was the native who taught Neytiri the ways of the Na'vi and it was Neytiri who had come with the RDA's Avatar program. How do you think that would change the feel of everything and, indeed, the feelings we have for the characters?

Interesting idea, and in this case we should see more Neytiri so i like it very much
![]() As for feelings to characters i think they would be same at least for Ney

honestly for me at least, it wouldn't be quite the same
![]() not to say I wouldn't have feelings for her. It's just the feelings that most of us share are because of her personality and who she is, which IMO wouldn't be the same if she was ever a human.

If the roles were reversed, then that'd be grounds for the haters to start commenting on how the "male character is the stronger; sexist hues fill the film" and all that crap, as if it somehow makes any difference at all, considering Neytiri (in that position) would become Toruk Makto. Whatever.
![]() Interesting idea, though. |

EWWW! GENDER-BENDER!
Nah, just seems a bit strange to me. Jake's a goof, and so is the actor. Neytiri being an RDA goof... played by Zoe Saldana... I'd watch it for the lolz.

It wouldn't be the same for me either
Its just the whole fact of meeting Neytiri What do we [audience] know about her or her people? Nothing. Its a mystery thats slowly revealed, a love for Neytiri and the Omaticaya we slowly have. I'm saying this from a guys position who's never had a girlfriend, movies shown from a guys perspective meeting a girl and falling in love are incredible, especially if it includes a girl named Neytiri, on a moon called Pandora, with an adventure that I'll never forget. (It's really late, so if it doesn't make sense... yea) |

Interesting... I'd agree it wouldn't be quite the same.... Neytiri (or her avatar anyway) would still be amazingly hot, but not the same personality wise. I'd still love her though

I agree it wouldn't be the same, I'd still like it. It would teach the same lessons and such, but a Human Neytiri? I'm guessing she would look a bit like Lexa Doig... still hot, but not otherworldly hot, but that's not the point.
It doesn't matter, I probably still would have spent 15 hours sitting in my local IMAX.

I'm trying to imagine Jake saying "Skypeople do not learn, you do not see."

It's certainly a new idea, and to be honest I'd love to see how that would look (I'd love to see human Zoe play a Jake character after giving it some thought) but I'd take the normal Avatar movie than that, but I'd love to see it now!

I think it would mean more fangirls.
![]() Anyway I think it would be kinda awkward, at least for me. Being a guy, I was really immersed into the movie "as Jake", I can't imagine Jake as the wise forest guy with amazing personality and Neytiri as a dumb grunt going someplace she's gonna regret... that's just... WRONG. ![]()

If the roles were reversed, we'd all be dead
