I definitely don't get from this that he's advocating killing people. He's advocating *against* reckless reproduction. I'll register my opinion here that "reckless" is deliberately having more than two children. Really. If you want kids, replace yourselves (you and your spouse) and stop there. You might feel like you can handle more kids, but the planet and the global economy cannot. I really hope more people pick up on that.

^basicly like that and what Eywa's pet said

also. it's not about saving the earth, it's about saving the human race. because, we can polute, we can cut down forest and nuke and stuff. the earth will recover, we might go instinct. it's all a matter of time, really.

that doesn't give us the greenlight to go cut down all forests, or polute, or anything though

the earth will, will no question, outlive us. it has been seen before, civilizations falling

it is but as you know, politicians, talk and talk. but do they act? no.

they set long term goals and they don't even reach them in the end. because in the end, all they care for is money.

Yeah, this. I didn't think it had anything to do with JC at all.

This.

People need to learn to close their damn legs, or at least use contraceptives. This is a finite planet, and we're not the only species on it.

Use contraception. There is nothing wrong with sex, and particularly nothing wrong with women having sex (which I'm sure you didn't mean, but the term 'close their legs' is usually used on WOMEN, and it made me twitch when used here).

So, yeah. Contraception, and easier adoption, would help a lot of things.

Its exclusively used in regards to women actually.

Men don't have any phrase to limit promiscuity, because when a guy changes girlfriends every week, he's a stud, when a girl changes boyfriends, she's a slut.

Lovely world we live in is it not?

Which is why I'm objecting to the use. I have seen it used in reference to men, but normally in a 'you're acting like such a slutty girl' type, and honestly it makes me CRINGE.

Sex is not the problem (thank you, as a species, we have too many cultures that object to women daring to enjoy sex), using contraception IS.

Don't worry, that's not what I meant. I really wish there was some sort of unisex term.

Actually, it says that the solution to overpopulation is not for people to reproduce at the same rate, and I completely agree. A limit of one child per adult (meaning two for a single couple) would cause a gradual but measurable population decline (as not everybody chooses to reproduce). A stronger method would be each person being able to have 0.5 children (meaning one per couple). One potential incentive might be allowing the rights to be sold/transferred to other people, allowing people not interested in reproducing to benefit, while people who are set on having more are still able to without causing population growth. Equally, governments could buy the rights from someone in return for a benefit of some kind to further limit growth.

Also, I don't know where you got the idea that is from JC... - That is a random on the Avatar wiki.

Exactly. Sex is a completely normal act and biological impulse and always has been, it is only in the last tiny part of human civilisation that people have decided to make it a problem, due to the desire to interfere in other people's lives.

The few countries that have child limits are currently dictatorships or communist offshoots.

Besides, anybody who's grown up with siblings would fight child limits.

I've grown up with a younger sibling, and I think in a lot of places, a limit on children makes a whole lot of sense. *shrugs* But really, most of what you need to do is educate women and offer birth control. The former alone cuts birthrates down enormously, because suddenly a lot of women aren't having children until they are in their late twenties or thirties. As opposed to late teens.
