Default It came back......

I've read countless dream threads in both avatar forums since the forums were erected. I see that some people have dreams of avatar, pandora, the na'vi, etc etc. I have never had any dreams related to avatar......until last night. It was the first time and it was a dream with two na'vi characters: neytiri and who I think was her sister. There were people aiming to kill them for some reason and I had the duty to protect them. I was handicapped in some way, either with a wheelchair or crutches. At some point, things got "interesting" between me and Neytiri, but nothing too serious. I kept waking up and then forcing myself back to sleep to continue the dream. When I would wake, I would focus my mind on the thought of the dream and "na'vi" and suddenly i'm asleep again and continuing the dream. This went on a few times till about 10am when I finally woke up. The feeling I felt was......PAD. I haven't felt that since I first saw avatar when it was released on dvd. I felt sad, and really missed Neytiri and the dream. I didn't accomplish anything today because all I could think about was the dream and wishing it never ended.

I know this feeling won't last long but it's strange that it's a sad feeling that I WISH would last, but eventually I know will fade.

I just felt like sharing that. I think it's a good day to watch Avatar again.

I know how you feel, definitely know how you feel. I've had some Avatar and other dreams that I wish would never end.

Were these dreams you had in one night lucid dreams?

Sometimes it seems like dreams are just a way for your mind to torment you, eh?

I'm not sure if last night's episode was a lucid dream or not. I read up a little on lucid dreaming and but I never could get it to work for me. I do know that you have to focus on what you want to dream about as you are putting yourself to sleep, or something like that. So when I woke up I was still tired so I focused on the details of that dream and I fell asleep thinking of it. I guess that's what enabled the dream to continue a few times. It did work and I resumed dreaming about them but eventually after a few wake-ups, the dream started changing so I didn't go back to sleep after that.

Don't you love it when you get a dream you can reenter a few times before you have to get up for the day?

Sounds like a cool dream. Oh, and I know the PAD after dreaming feeling, too. Look at it this way though, the next night will be another chance to dreamwalk with the Na'vi again. You always have to wake up, but then 16 hours later you can go back to sleep again. A new night, a new chance for Avatar dreams.

Next time you have one of those waking/dreaming episodes, try to focus a bit more when falling back asleep. Those are great opportunities to get lucid through WILD methods.

"Man, I see in fight club the strongest and smartest men who've ever lived. I see all this potential, and I see squandering. God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden

Well, at least you got to spend some amount of quality time in the dream, right? And it sounds like once you recognized who was in your dream, you could go back to it. I wish I was able to do that...

I gotta say...after watching Inception for the first time yesterday, I have this yearning to get one of those machines, construct Pandora in a deep enough level of consciousness, and just spend a few months living there. Shoot, there's a bunch of places I'd love to visit like that.

I just saw Inception for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and ... that's brilliant. (Gotta love it. Wishing one movie were true so we could live in another movie's world...)

That's PAD in a nutshell. I've not felt it for far too long, and I rather miss it... it crops up every so often, but never stays around long enough for me to even realize what just hit me.
