Default Does anyone else feel like their life was preparing them for Avatar?

So finally got to watch my Avatar SE blu-ray-disk the other night, and getting to that point, of just playing the movie was an adventure in itself. Bought a new blu-ray-player .. um yeah doesn't work with older TV's. So had to borrow my son's for the night to watch!

This watching experience as ever was quite heightened, but there was something different and new that emerged in my thoughts well watching it.

The reason that Avatar 'affects' me so strongly, is because it 'mirrors' so many parts of my life, and because of that I can't help but wonder why has my life had all those experiences, what have they been guiding me to?

Before I used to reflect on 'how, finally a movie could end up so well matching up to my beliefs and values those parts of me that have been there my whole life!'

This time my thoughts were 'how or why is it that my whole life seems to have been preparing me for Avatar?' Its a subtle difference, perhaps, but it really has me thinking ... i don't know, but does that makes sense to anyone else?

For example, there is an actual star pattern that is traced in the shape of a Willow Tree, across the breadth of the Milky Way! And no wonder Indigenous peoples refer to the 'here after' as the Happy Hunting Grounds! Has it ever occured to anyone why the bioluminescence dots, on the Na'vi!"

Well ... that would be the other question .. idk!

Its just at the moment seeing a whole lot of synchronicities, too many to just randomly shuffle them off to coincidents, albeit I could be just reading too much into them, but still, at this juncture in my life, I can't help but look at all the parallels, and at least wonder, in a good way.

But I don't have an answer .. just an opening up to the question .. to see what the universe might have as a response.

Interesting, but I can't really say that myself. I think Avatar was more what I was looking for, but not something that I expected.

Hmm, I can't say Avatar has mirrored my life, really. (A couple other things have already done that for me.) Instead of my life being a preparation for Avatar, I'd say the opposite is more true for me. The movie is inspiration and a sign post pointing me onward into the future.

However...perhaps we have all had similar experiences in our lives that have resulted in us being so drawn to Avatar? Yes, no, maybe...? I dunno, but I really like exploring what we all seem to have in common.

You know what's interesting about what you described? This is how many people feel when they have a trip on certain drugs. They often reflect upon their life, decisions they've made, their own characteristics. This should give us all an idea of how potent this movie really is as far as visuals and message.

Avatar was the battle hymn of the dreamer.

This wins my vote for the best description in the fewest words. Kudos.

Nice! Much better than settling for a mere answer. Questions have far more power.

I think it has to do with your character. You're life could have been "preparing" you for Legally Blonde 2, but it wasn't. You're not a simplistic underachiever content with settling for a minimum quality of life (No offense to anyone who likes that movie). Instead, you feel you're life was mirroring something as emotional and inspiration as Avatar. It says something about you.

"What is Avatar preparing you for" is an excellent question. Life is a journey. And although it may seem your entire life was in preparation for something, the truth is it's all in preparation for something else, even something greater.

Hopefully something very, VERY exciting in the coming years.

As for the OP.. Yes, I have felt that very much so that it seems too much like I was MEANT to watch this movie, and these feelings were MEANT to happen.

I could write loads about this right now but I lack the time... Maybe later I'll add more to it.

Avatar is a story crafted by a master storyteller using themes that are as old as mankind. It collected two billion at the box office because it connects at some level to almost everyone. We are all connected and this movie demonstrated it very clearly. I think almost everyone here feels that to some degree or another. I would describe it as part of the human condition.

It didn't prepare me for anything. What I do now I am awake is up to me.
