So I have had this thought about the "avatar program" perplexing my mind for quite some time and maybe I can get some input, thoughts, opinions from my Avatar family. I am going to try and simplify this as much as possible without writing a book which I tend to do sometimes. LOL
I am just curious about the actual process in the producing an avatar. We all know that they take DNA from the Na'vi and mix it with human DNA but from who did they actually collect it from? Do you think that the DNA that was used might have any relativity or possibly had to do with say Jake becoming Toruk Makto along with becoming the future leader of the Omaticaya clan, like DNA from "royalty" so to speak? I am sorry if this topic might be silly or off the wall ridiculous but I just always wondered and has always been a fascinating thought to me since I love science and biology so much. HMMMMM??? ![]() ![]() ![]()

I think it's a fun question
![]() I don't think there's an absolute answer though, as to where they get it and why (at least, they don't give us one directly in what I've read). So it's one of those questions that's free for your imagination to do whatever you want with. But Jake's consciousness remained his consciousness, so as far as I would say, he became leader/Toruk Makto under his own powers. His Avatar is still his personality.

Hmm, I don't think being Toruk Makto is genetic, it's more a question of need and perspective.
I would guess though that either the avatars were created form a single DNA sample, or alternately, from multiple Na'vi individuals. It is an interesting idea though, because there are many personality traits that are genetic, which could play a part, even in an avatar, if not being the direct reason for Jake's becoming Toruk Makto, There is the question of the fact that while Jake's stripe patterns differ from the Omatikaya's, the other avatars' are different again, which suggests either different genetic material is used for each avatar, or other Na'vi traits are subtly modified by the human DNA used, or both. To me, I see this as an issue of compatibility - they have to find a Na'vi genetic sequence that will work well with the human elements, which would be different for each individual's DNA, possibly using DNA either taken from any one of many different samples of individual Na'vi, or engineered from sampled Na'vi DNA.

Although that doesn't answer the question of where the Na'vi DNA comes from or from how many Na'vi people. As said before, it's left for us to imagine. |

As I said - there are a few ways. They could have a database of Na'vi DNA samples, which could either be used directly (finding a sample which is compatible with the particular human's DNA), or new Na'vi genetic sequences could be engineered form those ones, either by combining sampled ones, or by direct modification of required traits.
