Default 1 Year since Avatar Fan Film Premier at IMAX!

Kaltxi ma eylan,

It's been a while since I've posted here, but believe me I have been working behind the scenes for AvatarMeet 2012. Keep a look out of some news in the next few weeks on that one.

However, my reason for posting was as the title suggests; it is one year since the Avatar fan film, Our Only Home, made by fans on both Avatar-Forums and Tree of Souls, was shown at the IMAX cinema in Birmingham (UK) prior to the showing of Avatar SE to an unsuspecting audience. Six of us managed to make it to the mini meet up, including Unil Makto, who flew over from America!

We all met up in Birmingham to have a mini clan meal together, before making our way to the IMAX. We got there just in time as the adverts has started. The lights dimmed and on came Our Only Home, made by 20 fans from nine different countries.

Getting it shown at the IMAX came about when I enquired about having an Avatar fan meet up there to watch Avatar SE as it was coming to the end of it's run at the cinemas. I thought I would edge my bets and asked if we could have our film shown. Almost without any hesitation, the lady at the other end said no problem as they were part of the university and liked doing things for the community. The rest, as they say it history, and a very memorable one for all of us Avatar Fans as we all now have something in common with James Cameron - we've all had a film shown at IMAX!!

For those of you who may not have seen our fan film here is the You Tube link:

The You Tube Channel for the film is here: OurOnlyHome's Channel - YouTube

On there you will find a number of versions with subtitles in English, Portugese, German, Czech and Finnish. There are also a couple of extra videos on how it was made and a funny :nwink:

There is also an app for the iPhone, iPod and iPad on iTunes too. Just search for 'OurOnlyHome'.

Below are some piccies from the event that took place a year to the day on the 5th November:

Eywa ngahu ma eylan,
Alan

this just blows me away! you what, you had OurOnlyHome shown in IMAX before Avatar SE??? Yes, I already know, you had told me earlier... but this just shows what Avatar can inspire us to do - together!

I have a smile like this on my face!
Irayo to all, people, that was a really great job - and ooh, hope you enjoyed that meal!

Awww..Irayo Apache

Believe me, Avatar took me on a journey I was never expecting to take and I am so grateful it did and what it has done for me.

I really do feel honoured and so privileged to have had the pleasure of getting to know so many good people on the forums and actually meet them!

I guess this is why I am so passionate about trying to make the meet up next year a success by helping out with it.

Yay -- Happy one-year Anniversary to the IMAX showing of OOH! Still wishing I could've been there to experience it in person.

I See You ma tsmukan!
(now, Alan, you know my next question, don't you? )

Actually, this OOH video took on its own life. It went on some sort of... web globe trotting, right, Alan? On some festival. Or something...

From my part: I am in Amma's program in Barcelona these days (November 5 - 7) & I this time got myself into Teenagers program (one of many Amma's humanitarian activities) - namely, into the environmental facet of it I'll post a pic of my own way of recycling: knitting stuff out of disposable plastic bags! So that's what I am doing with the teenagers teaching them to "recycle in a creative way".

Where do you think the OOH comes in? Oh, I just pull it out of my superbag(the Meet Up + OOH DVD) & say: "Have you watched Avatar? Well this is made by Avatar fans from 9 countries & it teaches you what any normal person like me and you can do for the planet!" It's an excellent educational video actually.

(Add to that the fact that one of the songs yesterday was Nature Is Our Only Home... it's not on the web yet but I'll link it when it is uploaded).

@CyanRachel: Irayo ma tsmuke. Yeah, I wish you could have been there too. It was great when the audience laughed at AV Daedrick's "If its yellow let in mellow. If it's brown flush it down."

@Moco Loco: Irayo Moco. Glad you liked it. So the first time your saw it was in Seattle and the meet up showing? Cool. I hope we all get to watch Avatar togetherat the next one again.

@Apache: Oh, wow. That makes me over the moon that it is being used like that. Txantsan! I'll get your subtitles added as soon as I can ma tsmuke. Do post you recycle bags and how you make them. They are great!

Eywa ngahu ma eylan,

Alan

my bags are in my Random Stuff album, I'll link your post there, too

Aw, all right! Here they are:

I got quite a few people interested about OOH, so yeah, once the subtitles are on, we can throw the link to the video all around Spain/Latin/South America & see what happens Amma's people are generally green-minded, & I was mostly thinking about kids of 10+ cos they are the next generation. If their parents show them the video, that will be cool

I wonder if you managed to somehow pass Irayo video to JC? Say, during the Meetup 2011? Would be curiours to know what he had to say...

Ohhh...there were plenty of Na'vi in Human Avatar's back then. Hopefully there still are

Well, I did send a copy of the video to Lightstorm Entertainment for James Cameron, but I never heard anything back. Probably never will. It would be nice to think that he did get to see it and OOH. But hey, we'll never know....

no, we probably won't know. But I would think in Don Juan's terms: "Be a good warrior, do everything that's within your reach & ability, do your best - and leave the rest to the Force. The Force has its plans".

So, erm, "may the Force be with you"
