Question Peter Jackson talks about Avatar

Kaltxi aysmukan si aysmuke!
I found this on the official Avatar page on Facebook.
Peter Jackson (The Lord of the Rings director), said:

"Avatar forces us to confront the issue of who we are and what we want, and to acknowledge the simple truth that, as a species, we are bound to a common fate, and so the future of humanity is in our hands."

You can actually find this sentence in the preface of the book "The art of Avatar" by Lisa Fitzpatrick...Peter Jackson wrote it.
Personally, I agree with him...Avatar made me think about the sense of life, it made me wonder about our future as humanity, and it showed me what the "common fate" would be if we...how can i say?..stand there twiddling our thumbs instead of taking care of our Earth...instead of taking care of us and other people..
What do you think about it?? Is there still hope for us??

Of course there's hope for us. Whether or not that hope becomes true relies on ourselves.

ToS is full of pessimists. I have hope enough because a way out is possible, and easily so if we just stop being so foolish.

No. Hope for humanity is naive considering the facts. I'm not a pessimist. I am realist.

Exactly. A pessimist explicitly tries to make any situation negative, often while ignoring the facts (as does an optimist), a realist sees a situation as it actually is.
Humanity could change, but could not. Nothing more than that can be said accurately.

Exactly! The power is in the people, if only they'd turn their attentions towards bringing down corruption and protecting biodiversity instead of worrying about celebrities or such s***. Whatever happens to us is deserved, if we pull our heads out of our hind quarters and take action to preserve Earth then long live humanity! If not, then may our kind perish

^ I agree.

I hope that the minority of people who are strong willed and voiced in their hopes to save this planet manage to turn everyone around.

I think it's total nonsense to claim you could objectively say that humanity is "hopeless" (which, for one, is a subjective concept to begin with).

Well, considering the facts, we've done a pretty good job maintaining Earth until about the 1900's. No reason why we can't advance our way out of this problem.

Looook, it's real simple....hmmmm, now where have I heard that line before...it is up to all of us to make changes in out lives...evolve if you will. To be mindful of our actions: from driving to use of plastic, from energy use to wasting food and so on.

Is there hope for us? For me there is always hope for us...up until the point of no return. Were that is..what that is...when that is...I don't know. But we all just need to make are small changes to make our lives more sustainable for the planet. If we set a good example others will follow. You are the company you keep.

Simply search the internet for things you can do right now. Cut and paste "environmental tips" into Google, click on the first hit and pick one tip each day and impliment it in your life.

You will be doing something. You will be making a difference. You will be evolving. You will be putting hope back into humanities' ability to look after our home....

I see plenty of reasons. It's not like one would have to look for them. They're fairly obvious IMO.
