Default Fan-Fics: Why Are Avatar's Better?

I've not been fond of fan-fics for many of the fictional universes I enjoy (Avatar, Star Wars, Star Trek, Halo just to name a few). I have listed these reasons before but for the sake of discussion I will list them again.
1. Poor use of the English language.
2. Only purpose is to write out a fanboy/girl fantasy.
3. Fails to fit into the context of the fictional universe it purports to be about.

Why do you think that Avatar seems to have higher-quality fan-fiction than other franchise? Or, if you believe this is not the case, for what reasons?

I personally believe Avatar's effect has gone well beyond others in its effects on people. You don't hear about "Post-Star Wars Depression," do you? I'm sure this idea of "PAD" was partially an ill-conceived attempt to mock "Avatards" but clearly no other film has generated this type of reaction. At least not recently, anyway.

The emotional response garnered from the film, I think, ensures that most fan-fics will not fall into #3. Further, I believe the people who the film effects in this way are altered on a "higher" level, a more intellectually-stimulating (rather than raw adrenaline kill-'em shoot-'em) response. This reduces the likelihood of #2 but certainly doesn't eliminate it.

As for #1, this is "teh intarwebz..."

Trust me Avatar has both good and really horrible fics that don't deserve to exist out there! I have seen them. The number of fics of both good and high quality seems about the same but keep in mind that Star Wars and all other franchises have been around a lot longer so the number of fics for all those other franchises is also higher and that a lot of fanfics are nothing but crap as a result

Same here, I normally dislike fanfic. My last attempt (before Avatar) at trying to read some failed when just about every single one I could find that looked promising turned out to be unfinished, full of spelling and grammatical errors, completely changing far too much, or just generally badly written. Avatar seems to be the exception though.
I think Avatar has better fanfic because for many people, they have really deep and strong feelings they wanted to express, rather than the normal 'kill every character you dislike and make a character that represents you IRL get into a relationship with the character you're a fangirl of/putting two random characters into a relationship even if they are completely different and never would in canon' (and yes, those fanfics are usually written by females... http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.ph...ritersAreGirls )

The other things that annoy me about fanfic are making things up - not small things that would be reasonable to assume, but huge things - such as anything which would have actually had an important role in canon if it had existed is particularly annoying. The other one is making characters act completely differently to how they normally would.

I'm sure there's some bad Avatar fanfic out there too, but luckily I've never seen it.

There are definitely some "questionable" Avatar fan-fics out there... (Slash-fiction? Do. Not. Want.) but I agree, the fan-fics written about Avatar do seem to be a lot more in-depth, well-written and accurate to the film .

I think it's because the film touched so many of us in such a special way that we want to keep the message and feel of the film alive in any originally created content. That and as others have said, Avatar is not the kind of film to provokes crass reaction in the form of media. It's not all "Kill! Kill! Kill!".
