Default Na'vi discovering humans all don't speak the same language

This would be interesting to see how they'd react to this. Not all humans have english or Inglisi as a first language. What if they met a human who didn't speak english?

I imagine there would be much shrugging of shoulders and pointing at objects in a futile attempt to convey some sort of message. A bit like when Britons and Americans meet

LOL, as an American, yeah, some would get confused. The slang in the two countries differ greatly. I know some slang, but won't repeat it here. A few friends from the UK taught me some really vulgar stuff that would go over the heads of most US folk. Especially those who say say, 'Hey, speak 'Murican. Tis 'ere's 'Murica." You can use UK slang on them and they'd never get you're making fun of them or cussing them out. I will say I know what the term 'bell end.' means. XD

I know Tagalog words. A bit of advice, never ask one of my uncles to translate. He likes to mess with people.

Anyway, it would be cool.

Neytiri: What did he say?

Jake: I've no idea.

Neytiri: Is it not Inglisi?

Jake: No, it's Japanese.

Neytiri: Well what good are you if you can't translate the Tawtute tongue? *storms off annoyed*

Considering how Grace Augustine said that the kids in her school "picked up English faster than I could teach it" they'd probably send one of the young 'uns to learn and translate for them.

This does bring up an interesting point. Could be wrong but I think I heard once that with the trees of souls all around Pandora, the Na'vi are able to access memories from every region on the moon and thus this resulted in a lack of regional slangs and dialects since no group was isolated enough to have their own unique linguistic identity develop. So, learning that not all the skypeople can understand each other would probably be a big revelation for them.

Someone from the Learn Na'vi forums would probably know better than me.

I'm sure there's erotic fanfiction about this.

I saw a vid on YouTube of Learn Na'vi and members of that are global and use the na'vi language to chat since not all speak english or others languages. So the na'vi tongue helps them communicate.

As to humans, it would be a shock not all humans speak the same language. I'm curious how the na'vi would handle it. As seen in the comedy Almost Heroes. "His name is Bent Twig. He is not right in the head."

Chris Farley's character gets slapped by an Iowa native.XD

That or, "Hindi no ako masrang Na'bi" I do not speak Na'vi. (Yes I do speak Tagalog kind of fluently)

That or a human with an odd sense of humor go up to a female na'vi and say "Malali ang titi". My uncle taught me what that means. It means the same thing as if a guy has big hands that well you know the rest. LOL XD This looks like something Jake would say and get slapped in the face for being very rude, especially if it were translated. Yeah, never ask my uncle to translate as he'll say the wrong thing just to laugh at the results. Someone like Jake would be a perfect victim for his pranks.

One can realize that we all live with a "Tree of souls inside our core genetic memory's as well..
Findings on the new aspects in field of "Epigenetics" have a lot to share here.
, Native cultures because they core recognize deep ancestral relationships do have a "unique set of eyes" into this perspective,, They "see" interwoven balance relations in the natural world "Bonds" that people from our Cultural Ethos background "Are all but blind to see" as far as The symbolic Na'vi people go ,, they by example are very good at reading "Unspoken Body Language" (The tail and ears also speak) expressed by all peoples and animals "regardless of there spoken language" where things get interesting in language study's comes down to the "place" of a language's "Expression structure" ,, Children allways are able to learn new language skill's faster then Adults because there language perception set of rules and values is not set in stone..

I think the knowledge of humans having different languages would speak to the Na'vi in a way that would re-enforce what they have seen already, which is that sawtute are a very "disconnected" people, disconnected from not only from the natural and spiritual world, but disconnected from each other to the point that we have several different tounges.

I don't believe the Na'vi have a single language, because once you leave a region the accent changes. Also, the neural interconnection system isn't a network of optical fiber cables and has its limits, so if the language could be transmitted via stimuli, it would not travel forever.
Anyway, it's not the words you speak that matter in Seeing.

So, in a situation of foreign language contact, I think it would happen the same thing that happened when Jacques Cartier and other explorators did. At first, the communication will be almost impossible, but with regular contact and observation, they'll figure out.

So, to relate it with the first paragraph, the connection between each other is not a matter of words.
