Default It can't be just a movie

"It's just a movie. Grow up. Forget it, for God's sake. It's been four months since it got out, why would you keep minding about it?"

Because it's not a just a movie.

Yes, I miss the jungle, Nature, the Na'vi, Neytiri, Jake, Grace, Trudy, Norm, even Quaritch. The Ikrans, the Hallelujah Mountains, the giant trees that could be used as home for hundreds of people. But that's not what I really miss. I don't miss the "form" in which it was presented to me. I miss what the movie contained. And you know what was it?

Honesty, love, plain sincerity, devotion, truth, lack of prejudges, courage, freedom.

That's what's lacking here. I wish there was something worth to which dedicate life, something worth fighting for. A way in which to go by. A place where to live in, with the certainty of acting correctly.

Something that filled our hearts.

The movie wasn't just a shocking 3D-CGI spectacle. No, it was something else.

It was an eye opener.

Zenit.... I have only three words for you:
Oel ngati kameie!
I agree with every single word you wrote here. Avatar is not just a movie... it's much, much more.

Nicely written, Zenit. I agree with you completely, and I'm sure many others here will as well.

There's a similar topic on AF which was posted a while ago. I always keep it in my subscription list because it's such an amazing read. You can find it here:

^^^ Quoted for truth...

It is also, as Tudhalyas would agree, the avenue through which I've made the acquaintance of people whom I consider my family: we trust each other implicitly, and have cried with and to each other more than once.

Oel ngati kameie, Zenit...you are among those who feel exactly as you do.

Avatar is more like a life experience than a movie. I think it's the only film that truly deserves the subtitle "An IMAX 3D Experience".

Do you mean that it was better in 2D? Because you were able to direct 100% of your attention to the story and the characters?

I'd say it was better in 2D for the reasons above. 100% of my attention was directed to the story and the characters in 2D.

The first time I saw it I was lost and confused but the second time it hit me like a freight train. After I watched it, 10 minutes later I was cleaning the kitchen (something I never do much less without being asked) ate a banana, and went out and played with the dog. Avatar showed me what I was missing by sitting in my room playing video games. Me and my dad get along better, I eat healthier, I exercise now and quite a bit to compared to just what I had to do in P.E. and I notice the beauty of nature and its little quirks to.

Its is definitely an experience, not just a movie.

This. ^^

After I saw Avatar for the first time, my opinion of it was that is was an unbelievable movie.

But after I saw it the second time, it smacked me right in the face. I was completely at a loss for words after my second viewing. This is when I had some bad PAD and for a while felt depressed and sad. The day after my second viewing was horrible. I cried a good amount of the day and felt like garbage. I never cry over movies but Avatar really gets me every time.
