Default Why I don't see the world the same

I wanted to write this because of the end of a "Junior Achievement" course I began on winter and I eventually regretted being in. You might know why.

In a few words: everything has changed. Maybe it wasn't the world itself, but rather how I saw it. I'm now back home, but do not feel at it anymore. I just see... walls.

And I swear that when I remember the months I stayed on the Sorian pine woods, and the scent, the dust and the god rays, the deers and all that... it was one of the few actual contacts with Nature I had and never missed it so much as I do now.

I just see myself trapped in a constant work routine and a strange place where nobody gets benefited yet everybody stays. And when I ask why life has to be unfair, they just shrug their shoulders and keep doing their stuff.

I have been given new eyes; but on the wrong place.

And I can't wait to get out of here.

I feel like this every year around this time. I take the summers off of work and spend them traveling the United States, visiting dozens of national parks. So, at this point in the year, I have been away from them for 8 months or so, and am only a month or two away from getting back into the best parts of nature in the US.

I have had this happening to me for several years of course, so I can't credit Avatar with awakening me to nature. It was more like salt in the wound for me where this is concerned However, it affected me in many other very emotional and intimate ways. Contact with nature is the cure for the world's problems, if we all figure that out before we destroy it all.

Yeam, my view of the world is changing too. Everything seems so fake now, all I want to do is get back to nature.

I'm beginning to have a similar view as Ed Norton's character in Fight Club. A "single serve" life, slowly slipping away every minute, an endless cycle of work, sleep, and Ikea. The bulls*** is getting more and more unbearable by the day. I drove by a bunch of Tea Baggers today and got the urge to stop and pick a fight with them (watching FC does that to me, I didn't stop though ). Those people just boil my blood, because they are a one-way ticket to 2154.

I rather enjoy Tyler Durden's outlook...

I know exactly what you mean. Many people don't realize what a dead end they set themselves on. At least that's what it seems to me like what they are doing.

People constantly ask me why I don't move to the city and get a 9 to 5 job, go to college and get an education to become some business associate or something.

I reply, because farming isn't a job, it's a lifestyle, and I sure enjoy the lifestyle, I enjoy being outdoors, I enjoy being my own boss, I enjoy being able to build things and use them, I enjoy the freedom of working the fields. People don't know what to think then.

My view has also changed. When i saw a can on the ground, it was just that. Now it is a symbol of the sky people destroying their home. So now i pick it up and throw it away.

We all die eventually, so live life out of routine. I wish, but havn't gotten far with it. Just keep going...

You stayed in the Soria forests for months?! That's very cool. Would you mind writing a short post telling us a bit about that?

Back on topic. I know exactly what you mean, ma tsmukan. I have felt like that at many, many times in the past, kind of a recurring thing. But before Avatar I didn't care as much. I had still decided to 'make my own path' so to speak, but after this whole experience it just seems so much more important.

Many people spend their entire lives being the little worker ants, propping up the system that put them there, but not working towards any kind of goal except for that 401K (For you American cats), or other form of retirement fund.

It makes me sad that a person can spend their entire life these days doing the 9-5 for 40 years. It seemed unfulfilling to me before- now it's almost disgraceful.
