Red face I Think I'm Ready For A Second Viewing

Hey guys! I was wondering if you could give me some advice. I saw Avatar once in January, and that's it. It hit me so hard, I couldn't go see it again. But now that the DVD is coming out tomorrow, and after all the PAD talks (thanks btw!), I think I'm ready to see it again. But I really want this to be a positive and inspiring experience. Some people left the theatres not depressed, but very happy and inspired. Tha's what I'm looking for. I just need the right mindset going into this. So...what worked for you? What do you recommend I do/think/prepare for this second viewing? After the movie, I really want to throw down the remote, scream "This! This is our planet" and start saving the world....or something like that.

I've never been able to control how I feel after watching Avatar -- It just happens. Good luck. <33

Same here... Some viewings, I've had massive, crippling PAD, others just left me empty. I've only ever had PAE after the first time so unfortunately no tips on how to get it here

The first thing you want to do is figure out why you get PAD then figure out a way to combat it. Of course, this may not work, but it's worth a try. To some, PAD is uncontrollable and it hits them even if they don't want it to. And to others, PAD doesn't even reoccur after the second viewing.

Make sure, if you are getting the DVD, that you have enough time to watch it on one sitting. Try not to have interruptions like needing food or toilet breaks. I find that it has to be one seamless experience. That's the physical preparation.
Mentally, do not try to remember what happened throughout the film, you it want to be as though you are watching it for the first time. If there are specific things that you've heard about that happened but you didn't notice, try and keep them in mind, but if you forget it doesn't matter because you have the DVD
Wait until after to have any musings, do not go off on a tangent while you are watching it because you will miss some of it!
Most of all, be prepared to enjoy it

I have no idea how you waited so long between viewing. Don't have much to say but enjoy it. This movie is more then a movie, its an experience. Have fun

For me, Take the time during the credits to regain your thoughts. Appreciate the finer things we DO have in the world, and what is going right. Smile knowing we aren't THAT far gone, and that there is still hope in the masses of people who feel the same way you do.

Think about how beautiful Pandora is, and really just bask in the appreciation of the finer things. It should keep you smiling

Wow thanks guys. Honestly, I'm scared. I'm scared to death. The first viewing was so powerful. See I'm the type of person who has always found wonder in the smallest things. I would look up at the stars in wonder and just tear up. Even things like rocks, grass, trees, they amazed me. But when I saw Avatar, it was like home. All the stars and trees and grass that I have here, were amplified. It's like it was a home designed for someone like me (and you guys of course ). So I think you can see why this movie hurt me so much ( it did help in the long run, but still) So even seeing little pictures of Pandora on people's signitures and stuff just sets me to a quick depression. I honestly don't know how I would handle an entire movie. But thanks for the support guys. I mean it.

After my first viewing it was so much for me to take in I couldn't digest it all... I had to see it again the next day... basically I saw it about 4 times since opening night that week, but at first it was PAD because no one felt like I did about the movie, and I couldn't really open myself up to anyone about it, and I didn't even know why i felt like this, so it left me even more confused... basically it sways... for us it could be PAE because we finally get to see this experience again, or PAD because we get to experience this again :/ you see my point

Yes, really. I've seen it 20 times in 3 months There is no way I could keep myself from seeing it at least every few days while it was still on everywhere. I would imagine the impact after so long a break is going to be quite intense. Enjoy it.

I have seen Avatar 14 times and i can't give you any preparation advice. For me it helps to get my favorite drink and start dreaming of pandora while resting at a sunny place . If you are watching Avatar at night, then you may spend some time with looking at the stars if possible. That always give me strenght to turn the PAD into inspiration.
