Default Idea: "Just the bare basics" Weekend

The idea is simple: reduce consumption of any kind of goods to the minimum: electricity, oil,... Two days living with just the necessary: three foods a day, water, your bed and clothes, and the phone.

Leave the PC, iPod, and TV apart; read instead some of that books you've got covered by the dust in your old bookcase (perhaps a classic such as "Robin Hood" or "Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde"); or call some friends and walk outside to talk. And why not making a visit to your family, and stay some time together?

Also, try to spend as less money as possible. A 30$ budget would be enough for two days.

Simplify your life for just a weekend.

Who's in?

PS: For those who really have the need of keeping themselves online, you can reduce the weekend to a day and keep using the PC. But don't make it a time to stare at the screen all day long, try to stay no longer than two hours a day.

Um... why do you say a phone is necessary?

Nice idea, Zenit. I have too much work to get done this weekend, but with a little preparation, I'm all for it for next weekend. (But I'm going to ditch the phone )

The phone is for emergencies and also to be able to call anyone in case you feel like going out with someone. It's not a bare basic, but it's just to stay in touch with the world.

Not this weekend, too many responsibilities to just shove off of the edge. They all require a computer. This idea though is awesome; I'm most definitely gonna try it during the summer

Go for it. I usually do this at some kind of remote location. If you do it in a wild place with a backpack you get a lot more than if you just stay at home. Having to carry everything makes it easy to only have the basics. All that crap is just too heavy to take along.

Great idea but I'll give it a pass.

I read a lot of books and only use my laptop for an hour a day.

I might try this some time, but not soon as I've got things to do. I also really doubt I could manage without the internet, but I'll certainly spend time reading and things instead

I do this all the time, it's great to disconnect for awhile.

I've done this before, years ago without even thinking about it..
Why not try it again..

Sounds like a fine idea Zenit. I esentially just returned from such an occasion, but i'll give it a try at home soon.

Can't miss guild raids, I just got into the core group and I have no intention of bailing for a weekend.
