So, I have finally cancelled my AMC A-list membership. Over the last three months I saw

Alita: Battle Angel five times
How to Train Your Dragon 3 five times
Captain Marvel five times
Hellboy once
Shazam twice
Penguins (Disneynature) once
Avengers: Endgame five times
Detective Pikachu three times
John Wick Chapter 3 once.

Not bad for basically eighty bucks. But there's only one movie in the month of June (Shaft), one movie in the month of July (Spider-Man: Far From Home) and one movie following the month of July (Zombieland 2 in November) I intend to see in 2019. So, maintaining a monthly membership doesn't make much sense going forward.

I'm pretty sure I'll re-up this assuming AMC still offers it come 2021.

What on earth is an AMC A-List membership? What's AMC?

AMC is a theater chain. A while back, a service started called Moviepass that was a subscription based movie service. Basically you paid a monthly fee and at select theaters, you could go see movies without having to actually pay for tickets. That service was forced to scale back to the point where it is now defunct, but as a reaction to it, AMC created their own version. Initially for $20 (plus tax) a month, eventually increasing it to $24 and tax a month. I quite enjoyed How to Train Your Dragon 1 & 2, so I got it when HTTYD 3 came out, knowing that two months later, Avengers: Endgame would come out and I could see that plenty of times too.

However, having seen Endgame five times and with no desire to see it in theaters again, I cancelled the service immediately after seeing John Wick Chapter 3 (and I'm glad I did, because apparently I needed to give them five days notice or I would have been forced to keep the service through June).

AMC is the biggest chain in my area, we have both Regal and Cinemark too. the AMC24 near me also has two IMAX DR6 auditoriums, showing 1:235 and 1:285 scales, big bucks there! they are expanding in 2020 to thirty screens. geez.

Hey ma smuk. I'm still alive :p still waiting for the sequels, but I will be there no matter how long it takes. Getting ready to go to a mini meet with two Avatar Eylan in the UK this month to see the Toruk show again and to see the UK still keeping my Avatar Journey alive.

Hi Wind! I was thinking about posting in the weather thread to ask about you. I'm so happy to see that you and a few others are still around. I wish a lot of the members would become active again. We're all very patiently waiting, and I'll admit that my enthusiasm has died down quite a lot from what it once was; even so, my AVATAR journey continues on as well. I'm sure in the opening scenes of the next film all of those familiar feelings will come roaring back for us all. I hope you have a great time at the UK Toruk meetup! I wish I could do something like that; I mentioned to Wameyn recently that it would be awesome for a some of us to do a meetup to see the sequels.

Oh no, I guess there's a rule with the Shoutbox that I forgot about since I've been banned from it?

Sorry, I just haven't had anyone to talk to for a while, that's all.

Okay, well, that's okay. My packages with my new books just arrived, and it'll probably take me a couple of months to read them. They're psychology books, law books, medical books, and history books. I'm trying to expand my knowledge while I pass the time. So that's what I'll be doing. I love you all! I'll check back with you later.

Srane, I am still around usually I have been hanging out on the LN discord when I have time but I havent forgot about ToS. Life has been busy, last year we found out that my mom had stage 4 cancer and it was a rough year, but she is doing better now. Life has changed so much since 2010, but I am still stoked for the sequels, I just want to finally get there.

Hi Moonbeam! How are you? Are you still trying to — figure things out? I haven't forgotten about what I said when I mentioned going over what the Bible actually says on the subject of transgender and homosexuality. I know you may already know it, but others might not, especially if they've only encountered fake "Christians" that spew hateful nonsense. I'll get around to it, I just want to present it in a way that isn't my opinion. I started writing it a couple of months ago, and I got kind of stuck. Plus, what I wrote got really long, and I want to make it more concise.

Your mom had stage 4 cancer?! Does, "She's doing better now" mean she beat it? I certainly hope so. My dad, grandfather, and aunt died from cancer recently. So many people die from cancer. I see people say it's because we're better at finding it. Well, if that's the case, and cancer isn't occurring at higher rates, which is what I believe is happening; then there would have been a time in the not too distant past when large numbers of people were dying of some mysterious illness which would later turn out to be this cancer epidemic we're dealing with. If you look back you see that these mysterious deaths didn't happen. It appears that we're really getting cancer at higher rates.

I believe it's in part to do with a diet deficient in nutrients.

It also seems as though something is being done to us intentionally. I mean, in the past it was really old people with cancer, and it was a scary thing because it was a death sentence. Then people in their 50s and 60s started getting it in higher numbers. Then people in their 30s and 40s started getting I more, and that's when we started seeing big moves for government funding for cancer research. Now we have entire hospitals filled with children who have various cancers, and that got people to crack open their wallet. I think it's a racket myself. It's all about the money.

My dad had "TERMINAL bone cancer" and they still gave him radiation and prescribed him chemotherapy. These were pills that cost $10,000 per prescription. If it's terminal there's no reason to treat it. All chemotherapy does is make someone horribly sick before they die, and in most cases I've looked into the cancer isn't what killed the patient — the treatment did. In the United States the third leading cause of death is medical error. The leading cause of death is cancer. Most cancer deaths are from the treatment. So I would say the leading cause of death in the United States is medical error.

Getting back to what you originally said; if your mom beat it be sure to press her to get reevaluated often. My dad, grandfather, and aunt all had cancer they beat; or so they thought. Doctors didn't catch it when it spread to other parts of the body. As it turns out, only doing blood work every six months is useless. My dad's cancer started as kidney cancer. He had his right kidney removed, and he thought that was that. I told my dad to make sure they were checking him, and he said, "Oh, they are!" I warned him that if doctors aren't looking for it they won't find it. You have to request certain tests. People falsely assume that if you've got something like cancer or HIV/AIDS that basic blood tests will reveal it. No… They have to suspect it and order the test. If they don't suspect it for a long time either due to your inability to describe the symptoms or doctor incompetence, you could bounce around from doctor to doctor for years before receiving a diagnosis.

With cancer you want to catch it as early as possible because the more advanced it the more aggressive the "treatment" must be. It can get to a stage where you're too sick to survive the treatment. And since they're getting massive amounts of money for treatment they're going to treat you if you can survive it or not. Then it becomes a situation where they have to give you chemo, and you have to take a break for two weeks to let your body recover. Chemo is a poison that kills all cells indiscriminately. It kills heart cells, liver cells, blood cells, etc. It kills fast growing cells the best, which is why it works on cancer. This is also why patients lose their hair while undergoing chemotherapy because it's the fastest growing cells in the body.

The problem is sometimes the cancer makes a big comeback before the patient can recover from their previous round of chemo. The cancer gets worse and worse, and eventually as a result of increasing the duration and dose of the treatment the patient's body gives out. They die, and that person's cause of death is listed as "cancer" when it was actually the treatment that killed them. Had competent doctors caught it early a simple surgery or a light round of radiation may have been all that was needed.

Anyway, sorry about the rant. The subject of cancer always gets me stirred up.

I'm glad to see that you're still around Wind. I hear ya, I'm ready to go back to Pandora too. I actually haven't watched AVATAR since 2014, and I've been flying on autopilot when it comes to the sequels. I don't look up information, read articles, or watch interviews because I don't want to spoil anything. Plus, with the frequent delay announcements I got really nervous a few delays back, and I feared that the next "delay" would be the announcement announcing that the sequels have been canceled. And as I understand it, if "AVATAR 2" is a flop they won't release 3, 4, or 5
