Default What do you do...

... on a bad day?

I've had one of the worst summers I can possibly remember, and I want to give up every day.

I don't mean die or anything, I mean quit working at the things I care about.

I know I haven't been around for a while, but I don't know where else to turn to to rant. I just really hate being sad, and I need a little support. I'm usually good at dealing with stuff like this on my own, but to no avail at the moment, it seems.

So what do you guys do when you're having bad weeks, when nothing will look up?

I try to do whatever I can to keep myself thinking about other things. I havent had the greatest summer at all either. Though what helped me is my job. I run a custom car detailing business so I had times where I needed to do 8 cars in one week and would spend what feels like some endless hours on one car.

This helps me because when Im sitting there working im not letting my mind drift off, just concentrating on making the car look perfect. So maybe you have something that can keep your mind busy?

Other things I like are just getting outside, been getting into kettlebells a bit and like taking my workout outside sometimes. Or if you play golf one long round can be relaxing.

Oh wow, I feel like you just described the past year and a half of my life. I know exactly what you're talking about when you mean that you feel like giving up on the things you care about. Or the things you used to care about, but then it becomes too hard to care about them anymore. I don't wanna get into my whole little sob story here, but I'd say, give yourself something to look forward to. Doesn't matter how big or how small it is, just something that you can look ahead to and know that you'll enjoy it, you know? Probably obvious advice, but it's all I got. I really hope you get things figured out!

Good call guys, I like the suggestions.

I think I have some decisions to make... Thanks for making me think!

Yeah. Same here.

Spending time on ToS helps a lot for me, not even posting or anything (I try not to post when I'm really p*ssed), but reading. Music really helps. And Gunny's right, golf is really relaxing, but it may be expensive if you play golf often.

I don't know about about the long run in general, but when I've had a pretty depressing day, there is nothing that gets me energized and back to life like a 4-pack of Red Bull...not the healthiest thing I know, but its just what works for me.

I would do what Gunny suggested.

Get away from it all, get back to nature.

See if you can get a few days away on a camping trip or something and if not, just spend the whole day outside. Do something creative, something primal. Distract yourself or even just sit down and let your imagination wander through the trees. It's amazing how healing our world can be.

Usually I take my Ipod and take a long walk. I have a pond by my house and I like to take bread and feed the ducks or other birds there. Sometimes I go for a bike ride, read, draw, or take my dog for a walk to the dog park. Anything that lets me clear my mind from life basically lol.

I consider my life... I listen to the OST, I post here... sometimes I listen to other music if I can think of some that matches my mood.
