Default AVTR Director's/Ext'd Cut

Kalti, ma Eywa’evenga,

...another long pause since last post...been busy with course, family life and trying to finish my Neytiri drawing (those braids take forever, nearly finished).
I searched the forum and couldn’t find a thread for this (apologies if I missed it) so tht I’d post up.

Popped to my local ‘flicks’ to watch the extended version of avatar – wow! It must have been SO difficult for JC to cut those bits? I mean, it seems he cut out all of the most important ‘links’ that complete the story....the ‘cause and effects’.

Anyway, the whole experience was virtually new as the film takes on a much more serious ‘feel’ (for me anyway). It’s all there, but much deeper and more painful, the scene where Jake, Neytiri and other clansmen find Tsutey...well, SO utterly heart-breaking.

Grace’s character becomes deeper too, like I said....all the links and little extra bits throughout the film really made it for me.
Finally, the ‘Jake-Neytiri’ scene...how emotive/powerful was that?
I’m blown away...AGAIN.
I so want to live there 

Tu’te

It was just beautiful...

One part which really affected me other than the mating and Tsu'tey's death was the school... they didn't show the rest of the related backstory, but that was still so sad

Yeah, the school scene really added gravitas to Grace's character - I agree, very emotive she clearly was deeply wounded, emotionally, about the schools history.

I've posted in the sequals thread, but there are SOOOO many tanget stories/concepts that could fill an entire movie...I truly hope they will and it never....ever...ends

I c u

The scene between Jake and Neytiri was beautiful...

But what happened to Tsu'tey, that was heart-breaking

The Special Edition was truly amazing. It doesn't sound like 9 minutes is a lot, but it really added a great deal to the film.

One scene that I really liked was at Hometree, when Neytiri brings Jake to the circle thing (not exactly sure what it's called) and Jake asks what her name is, and she answers him. Just something about that scene was brilliant.

I think it was the way she sounded when she answered him...

Yes, I forgot about that bit... it was brilliant because Jake says 'It's nice to meet you Neytiri, really nice'....the second half of that sentence Neytiri isn't really listening and Jake is merley vocalising his thoughts....a human trait.

That's why I think we connect with that scene so much.

Thanks for reminding me of it

It felt like a whole lot more than 9mins, as you say it added so much more - it changed the film for me.

P.S: Down side, my local cinema seem to have messed the 3D focus as, compared with the first film and subsequent 2D viewings, the film was terribly out of focus for a large percentage of it's run time causing huge loss of background detail. Also, there appeared to be 'rain like' lines on the screen (like pencil rain drawing) whenever the background was light....SO annoying! Oh well, I'll just have to go to another viewing to get over it
