Scout sniper eh? That comes as a huge shock man! *sarcasm* hahaha I bet you would make an awesome sniper though!

I would love to train with special forces! To train with them for a bit would be awesome! Push my brain and body, see if you have the ultimate fitness in all areas! I try to train as intense and varied as I can though

The army special forces now allows civilians to train with them.

There recently was a show on discovery I think that was about special forces initial training phase. It was a cool show. A lot of guys just couldn't take the physical and mental abuse that they put them through.
Yeah, that plus all the other stuff they can't show you.

Training in general sounds good to me just on the basis of self improvement.

However, I am a very antipatriotic person, a lone wolf, and I don't take orders from people.

I also live in an area with lots of douchey military-types, so I haven't got a very good opinion of them in general.

It's always been a bit of an idea to me, but I think it'd be a waste of my academic capabilities.

That, and my mother isn't letting go.

I believe the idea of country itself is backward. Separates people, makes them fight against each other and follow blindly their leaders -those never shed a drop of blood.

But for the training and the formation, I would go -there's no other place where you could get those, and not in the same way the Army provides it.

Any case, just as I'd love to become a priest for the option of complete devotion to mind and soul it offers, but I'm not religious; I won't go to the Army because I can't take just the training. I'd be possibly involved in a war, an operation or God-knows-what.

Killing people, ever foreigners "who deserve it", is not my hobby.

I agree with Zai-en-ken.
Ideally there would be no need for militaries, and I see them as just another form of mind control. So many military types all seem like the same person to me, and it's not a person I'd ever get on with.

I would genuinely rather live under a bridge.

If there was actual danger of being actually invaded, I'd do something... but I'd use my actual skills and not within a military. As it is though, all it seems our militaries are used for these days is securing oil interests...

I almost joined the Air Force. I either would have been a pilot or helped maintain the aircraft (I had more experience being a pilot than working on aircraft).

Thats what the big military does. Delta operators arent used for taking oil. More counter terrorism and counter intelligence ops in various pars of the world.

As long is there is men there will be war. You just have to get over that fact.

The question is just what are they doing in various parts of the world in the first place? Military troops are to defend their own country, not running around in foreign countries killing people.
And unfortunately many of the young men that are doing all these operations abroad do not understand why they do it and what is the real motifs for the politicians to send them there.

Actually, as long as man is here, there will be violence.

Countries just provide organized mass violence.

EDIT

A soldier must not think, just obey. It's one of the pillars of the military.

And one of the reasons I dislike it. It takes out personal autonomy and makes of the person a dependent cell of a greater organism.

I'd say that is an oversimplification. It's really more of a "don't question orders." Carrying them out may and often requires innovation, adaptation, etc. The armed forces don't want morons, they want thinkers. However, they don't want people who ask "Why?" I'm a big "why" type of person and that is not compatible with military service. It even causes me issues with my employment by corporations.
