Default Top 100 economic entities: 49 countries, 51 corporations

Of the world's 100 largest economic entities, 51 are now corporations and 49 are countries (2000)

According to a decade old survey, there are now more corporations than countries in the top 100 largest economys in the world. For example, General Motors, on this list, has more buying power than the country of Denmark and 23 other countries.

I wonder if there are more now than ever or if the global recession have an impact on the amount of corporations

Fascinating, this represents a movement in social evolution, how exciting.

This list is quite outdated though, corporations would be a lot more powerfull now I'd say.

That's pretty...erm. I'm not sure I'd trust corporations to literally rule the world one day, I mean, that's what got to Earth 2154 in the first place. A world completely ruled by profit margins... *shudder* It would be the end of democracy, and freedom, as we know it.

God damn it, an entire generation pumping gas, waiting tables; slaves with white collars. Advertising has us chasing cars and clothes, working jobs we hate so we can buy **** we don't need. We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. We've all been raised on television to believe that one day we'd all be millionaires, and movie gods, and rock stars. But we won't. And we're slowly learning that fact. And we're very, very pissed off." - Tyler Durden

It's actually two faces of the same coin. Both are associations, the only difference is why people join.

On the first one, it's for birth. On the second one, it's for necessity or ambition.

Whereas the first one is restrictive, the second one is degrading -turns anything into a matter of personal interests, and the clash between them it's not something nice.

I miss the days when people collaborated and that was not forced.

Oh, and...

Exactly how I feel. Months ago I would have been alarmed to see such numbers. Now I just find it interesting.

Well first of all, General Motors would've died if is wasn't for the stupid government to bail 'em out... So in that case, country + corporation = stupid.
