Black Friday shoppers trampled in New York

Black Friday shoppers trampled in New York - CNN.com

*sigh* This is why the world is dying. Everyone's so eager to be a consumer ***** that they'll trample over their fellow man.

Wow, this is absolutely crazy! I was like oh my god. What is wrong with those people. People jumped, stepped, and fell over those on the ground looked back and just kept on running into the store.

What I REALLY wanna know, is what was going through there heads? I mean jeez. How could you just blatantly run over someone hurt on the ground. With a smile on your face? Society is going to hell in a handbasket that's for sure.

Fits perfectly into the time we are living at... Who cares about others, me First...

In other words... Disgusting and sucks big....

"Cheap ****?! DOWANTDOWANTDOWANTDOWANTDOWANTDOWANTDOWANTDOWANT!! 11!1":shoop::shoop:

You're absolutely right, things are getting nuts out there, and we're all going to have to pay for it eventually.:(

Woodsprite 11-27-2010 05:51 AM

Haha! :D I actually think it's pretty funny. Gotta admire the initiative in these people. Even people in pain were still getting up to shop shop shop! :xD:

Gotta love it. The craziness of it all just makes it look more fun to me, at least. To anyone saying "Oh it's so horrible because it's only about things, and stuff, and... material items", what the hell ever. I mean really, we all go out of our ways to buy $500+ in Avatar-related sh*t that we really don't need, including willing to spend hundreds on the LE, let alone the CE. I mean... geez. We're just like them. We're just not as... forceful about it in public. :P

Banefull 11-27-2010 06:20 AM

@above: Its horrible because people are being injured.

Things like these disgust me greatly. Some people are just.....:(

Having just watched CE half an hour ago and now this, I feel like raging at a few of those shoppers.

WHY???

Elyannia 11-27-2010 06:24 AM

Well I spent my morning buying tons of video games for dirt cheap! I'm not complaining rofl. Survival of the fitest :)

Banefull 11-27-2010 06:29 AM

 How is this funny in any way?

...Double take. Just like them?

I'm sorry, but I'm pretty sure you won't see a single person here stepping on the backs of others trying to get into the store. Even if the real life Jake or Neytiri were in there handing out signed copies of Avatar. No, don't think so...

...You did actually read my quote you quoted, right?

@Baneful: It's funny because there was even a guy who was in pain from being trampled on, who leaned over a bar, obviously hurt... who then promptly gets back on his feet and runs along into the crowd as if nothing was wrong. :xD::xD::xD::xD::awesome: That is funny. That's why I'm laughing about the whole thing. It's like seeing the guy during the Steerage Party from "Titanic" fall down from losing balance, hurting his side, and then getting right back up with a smile, asking for another beer. :D I love it!!

Yes, but we don't share their attitude either. That's what I was getting to. Those people think that their Christmas shopping is more important than other people well being, even their own. Since the guy supposedly kept shopping after getting trampled. Most people here put the well being and love of others above their love for Avatar and shopping.

Empty Glass 11-27-2010 06:55 AM

:( Looks painful in the video. I sure wouldn't want to be in that throng.

I'm guessing the news crew was inside the store just to film the start of the holiday shopping season? I was asking myself how and why this was being filmed in the first place.

Pa'li Makto 11-27-2010 06:57 AM

Here's a quote from the film Twelve Monkeys that I think fits in here quite well:

Dr. Peters: "I think, Dr. Railly, you have given your "alarmists" a bad name. Surely there is very real and very convincing data that the planet cannot survive the excesses of the human race: proliferation of atomic devices, uncontrolled breeding habits, the rape of the environment, the pollution of land, sea, and air. In this context, isn't it obvious that "Chicken Little" represents the sane vision and that Homo Sapiens' motto, "Let's go shopping!" is the cry of the true lunatic?"

I find the mass consumerist mindset of people like in that article to be not much different then starving animals trying to get a piece of meat..That is, they are so focused on getting what they want that nothing else matters.

Gunny 11-27-2010 07:16 AM

I actually find it pretty funny also >.>........<.<.......>.>

NOT because people got hurt, because the drive and determination of those people there is just insane! Like woodsprite said, the guy getting up and chugging along like nothing happened :xD:

I kinda have a theory as to why some get this way though. Being that we have such abundance of resources, we never really experience that drive like an animal fighting for food so that it doesnt starve. So I wonder if our brains have switched so that we now get those adrenaline rushes from things like shopping for the best deal possible and knowing you beat out others. Almost everyone loves competition because everyone wants to be able to say they are top dog.
