Default I have a problem..

To be honest, I'm sick of all the accusations. Against 'military types'. Against consumers. Even against workers in oil companies.

So many people, even some on this forum (i'm not pointing fingers), accuse these people of being aggressive. Irresponsible. Stupid. Yet this isn't the case at all, for the enemy is the system. Not the population, the system.

Society.

These people, these victims of stereotypes, are not just mindless, destructive things. They are Human Beings. They feel just as much as anyone else.
For example, the Black Friday incident. Many of those people were likely shopping for Christmas. For their families. And even if they were buying for themselves, does that give them any less of a right to claim a good deal on a want of theirs?

An executive of an oil company has a family as well. Mouths to feed, bodies to clothe and shelter. His/her job is the key to their survival. If they have to choose between widespread pollution, or their families, they'll choose the latter. And to be perfectly honest, so would I.

Army Soldiers, Politicians, Executives. Would they be in their jobs if they didn't care?

I've changed my signature to show you my exact point.
All I'm asking for is that you give these people more respect. After all, beneath the buisness exterior, are they really that different?

I don't accuse people for what they are.

I accuse people for what they do.

Sure, they are Human Beings in capital letters. But so are serial killers, too.

I'm just angry that so many people are stereotyped because of what they do.

I don't have a problem with consumers but I do have a problem with consumers who would step on someone else rather than wait a few seconds so they can get up.

On a side note, I love your signature Advent.

I agree with Zenit. If you must judge people, judge them for their actions and what is in their heart when they do them, not their label. Afterall most of us are just the proles of the system, anyway. The masses need to be united, not divided. Like Jake said, "I am not your enemy, your enemy is out there."

Though I do feel that those at the top of the hierarchy need their feet held to the fire more than the masses, they are the ones that make the system, afterall. Not every CEO or politician is innocent. Something is wrong with the world and we need to give blame where blame is due. History has shown that bad things usually happen when the masses give the ruling class the benefit of the doubt.

And I honestly don't know what was wrong with calling out those people in Buffalo. If someone does something stupid, they deserve to be called out on it. What do you expect us to do if we see evil and stupidity in the world? Hold our tongues?

"They came first for the Communists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Communist.

Then they came for the trade unionists,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews,
and I didn't speak up because I wasn't a Jew.

Then they came for me
and by that time no one was left to speak up."

Nice sig btw.

We're the middle children of history, man. No purpose or place. We have no Great War. No Great Depression. Our Great War's a spiritual war... our Great Depression is our lives. In a dog-eat-dog system like this, what could you expect?

I can understand where you are coming from, but when you are in a position of power you have to steal yourself away and keep family separate from your work. I try not to judge people, I try to judge ideas.

I agree with everything except this

Everybody should be aware of what their life is worth compared to the people around them and the planet they are on. If we mess up Earth with pollution or what not, many millions of people and animals could die and future generations will suffer as well, if we lose our families it is heart wrenching for us but at least everything else will be ok.

Everybody wants survival and that's natural but to put all those other people and animals at risk for the sake of a handful of loved ones would be selfish and in the long run very destructive. How many others will lose family just so you could keep yours....

I learned in my class that profits is the game and blood of business. We built a society made for cheap oil ever since it arised from the first oil derrick. It's done us good so far, and their are many more avenues to take now that we have more options to replace those fossil fuels. Many of them, inefficient, but through writing science articles for a whole semester, I've found that many businesses are making a difference in engine combustion and an increased efficiency for transportation.
What destroys me is that the oil companies, big banks, and foreign interests flood money into Washington to get their way. Votes are bought and not given by principle anymore. I want to be a part of a government that works by fact-supporting votes and not favored interests. That's impossible, because any government gets corrupted in due course. The USA is definitely no exception. There is too much evidence pointing to national companies bribing officials, I believe the sovereignty of a state should be able to have a vote to veto their own senator or governor on grounds of corruption. This is a double-edged sword however... what if a senator was making real change for the better of the country and he was caught taking money from companies but than we later realize he broke his promise to vouch for them on the floor, the citizens would veto him on the spot, without even telling his explanation to the crowd he serves.
On topic with transportation efficiency, trucks and cars can get up to 100 MPGs if they wanted to. Cars are in massive surplus right now that are lower than 40 MPGs, they need to be sold before a new wave of vehicles is introduced. If being green is profitable, this world can change within a week, completely. When oil becomes scarce, the rise of it's price is compatible with a renewable energy's price, serious competition might bounce us back. Might I emphasis, there are too many factors to consider before making a judgement.

The fact that were humans destroys the very idea of government. We are weak to many things that a government presents, it's control and power brew malice in the eyes of the opportunistic, and cheating our fellow man for our gain are the biggest reasons why government can't always serves it's people I believe. It's truly pathetic. Id love it if the value of nature was more than that of money, people would respect eachother more and not worry about funds. That's just an idea made from Wonderland, at least it's something.

The day when man stops cheating his neighbor is the day we see mankind's true potential

Everyone cares about the people that matter to them, but that doesn't give anyone the right to completely disregard others.
There's nothing wrong with working for a large company in theory, but they have responsibilities, the same as anyone else in the world and it IS the fault of a few people when they ignore those.
If people were shopping for their families, do they really have the right to hurt others in doing so? Do people really need to rush that much just to save a tiny amount of money?

Yes, SOME people in the military have joined because they thought they would be making a difference, indeed, many get very disillusioned when they realise they haven't been and won't. Does that mean that there aren't many people there who simply enjoy violence and want to kill people? Of course not.

If people want my respect they have to earn it.

Don't want to get all 'Godwin's law' on this thread, but even some of the Nazis working in concentration camps were pleasant and caring family men. Humans are human.
