Wink My experience

Hey everyone, I'm relatively new to this forum, just been lurking and reading and relating until now, i don't even know how to include a profile picture

here's the story: I'm a grade 12 male high school student in Canada. The first time that i seen this movie, a year an a half ago when it first came out, it didn't hit me that hard, probably because i saw it with a girl, so my mind was elsewhere.... , but i watched it again at Christmas a year later (the 178 minute version), and it, completely changed my life. I was blown away, i literally cried afterwards at how much I wanted to be a Na'vi and live such a pure life in touch with nature... to give back to our nature. The very same nature which gave us life, which made it possible for humanity to evolve is being destroyed by the same humans, and it's sad beyond comprehension. I want to be free from money, to live my life in some rainforest in Venezuela, or Costa Rica with the native peoples who are wise beyond superficial means, who live spiritually with our mother, our nature. I honestly feel like I'm a Na'vi in a human avatar, Earth was once Pandora, roughly 15,000 years ago, we we're almost the same as the Na'vi, the only difference was that we couldn't fly in Ikrans or play in bioluminescent flora at night , but aside from that we're identical. There are people who still live that very same lifestyle on earth deep inside rainforests... however their habitat is threatened, and we must save it, we must do something. I believe that we can make Earth the Pandora that it once was... technology can coexist with a natural harmony, after all if it wasn't for technology, we wouldn't have been able fly to Pandora , or even get a wake up call from James Cameron . There isn't a day that goes by when I don't think about Pandora and all it's wonders and how I'd go there in a heartbeat if I were given the chance, but that reality doesn't exist unfortunately, we have earth... for it was earth which gave inspiration for the creation of the fictional () Utopia on an a moon 4.3 light years away, as hopeful as I am in hoping for Pandora to exist somewhere, which it probably does, there's no chance of reaching it within our lifetime... , but once again, we have earth, we need to preserve our own planet... the thickness of some of the amazon jungles is even greater than that of Pandora, and while we may not have floating mountains, we have such a great biodiversity of fauna, flora and landscapes on our planet, that is absolutely incredible. All I ask of you guys is to contribute to the betterment of our dear planet earth, let's save our mother from corporate greed together, lets do something. I'm going into university for mechanical/environmental engineering, and then I plan of getting a Ph.D in environmental applied science and management to reduce emissions in jets and cars, as well as to advocate corporate sustainability internationally (stopping those mother******* from cutting down our trees). I also want to work with James Cameron to help indigenous peoples with their issues and threats, once I get my Ph.D. Please do something similar, together we can fight this system of greed, I've found something worth fighting for guys, and I know that you guys feel the same way as I do.

And I'm not even going to get started on Neytiri, O how I wish she were real , how I long for such a girl of such spirituality and depth and love for nature... thats another thread however

I've never before had such a life changing experience in my life... a week after I saw it on that Christmas day i went to a local forest and just sat there contemplating how poorly our nature is being treated on this planet... I cried, and I'm not the type of guy to usually do this, if you'd know me in real life from before. I still love doing things that I loved from before such as working out, but things have never been the same, and I don't want them to go back. Even when i work out, I imagine myself a na'vi running through the vivid rainforests of Pandora, driven by adventure and curiosity, not the greed ridden corruption we call money. I love Pandora, it's people, and it's spirituality so much that I will make my career path completely centered on the ambition of restoring this planet to the Pandora that it once was, and to hopefully, somehow help humanity realize it's own primitive desire for oneness with nature. It's only been 15000 years or so since we were all neolithic, biologically we haven't changed, mentally of course, we did get a little "insane" as stated by Mo'at. I really hope humanity's insanity can be cured. I really hope that women stop thinking that putting on a crapload of make up will make them desirable... it makes them as desirable as an apple pie on an empty stomach, great while you indulge for the time being, but not fulfilling for the body, not fulfilling emotionally, not fulfilling spiritually. Such shallow routines done by most women nowadays are only good for physical relief, no different than sleep, food, or breathing. Men deep down want a spiritual connection, whether we see it initially or not is irrelevant, but the idea of Neytiri, the type of woman she represents is absolute perfection... there is nothing shallow about this woman, she lives for the collective good of her people, and of her nature which gave her life. Most of all, I really hope that this feeling never goes away in me, in you, or anybody else on this forum... we can do something great together, it's not the government that defies the people, the government is a reflection of his people, so we must do something to advocate change, advocate change towards the sustainability of our planet, towards the preservation of our indigenous people, towards a shift towards realization of just how connected we really are to nature, to Eywa. Please let's do something, I'm already planning an entire career path towards the dream of making this planet the Pandora it once was, please do something also ! we can do it, I know we can.

by the way, check out this video, Im going to do this soon, flying an ikran really inspired me

Welcome Freedom! Your story is inspiring. Many members here experienced similar transformations and it's all very encouraging.

I think you were dead on with how close the Na'vi are to humans. You should check out Original Wisdom. It's a book about indigenous peoples in Malasia who are a lot alike the Na'vi. I've been recommending to everyone. Very powerful stuff.

Anyways, I'm glad to see you're changing for the better. We need more people to "wake up". Enjoy the forums!

Welcome, you definately will fit in here. I have a simular story to your's. I was pro-envirnment before and Avatar was basicly the spark for me and wanting to stand up for human rights and the envirnment. It also got me intrested in art and writing. I saw this site when I was just browsing google for avatar stuff and came across here. After a few more visits, I decided to sign up here and this was my first acount on the internet. I feel this place is an escape for me because it has members who are honest and have very great feelings for other people. And this place is reletivly safe from a-hole bloggers. (So glade there are many people here and everyone isn't following avatar only on facebook.)

By the way, great name for this site. I fly on the wings of freedom as well.

I really appreciate the welcoming ma tsmukan ulte tsmuke glad to be a part of those who have "awaken", let's do something together to make a change in this world ! it wont be for another couple years of education that I can contribute on a large scale, but until then I'll dream of Pandora, live my life to the fullest, and do the little things that also can make a difference.

Good morning (or what else should one say when someone woke up ) - Welcome, Freedom.

That indeed is a familiar story, though you experienced it all a bit later than many here. Anyways, congratulations on deciding towards a life that is going into a more meaningful direction, doing environmental engineering. I personally am going for a pHd in ecology right now and I like it, but I suspect an environmental engineer will make a lot more money than I

And indeed I would very much agree on that Earth is our human Pandora. We may not have flying Ikran, Tsaheylu or floating mountains and bioluminescence, but we have furry animals (aren't they one great source of joy?) and snow and frozen lakes in winter - so this world also is unique! And yes we have to defend it. Definitely!

"a little" sadly is an understatement. The madness called by some indigenous Americans by the name of "wetiko" is very powerful and too many peoples brains are like "cups that are full".
I think that desire you mention is strong in humans and while I would be comfortable calling it "primitive", I think for many that may sound regressive. Personally, I do not use that term deragorative(?) in any way but some do. I think it is a natural part of being human and if it is not fulfilled, people will fill that with something else - for a long time this was religion and in most parts that is still so. I think, that is a bad replacement

Whoah - wingsuits... Crazy things... I decided last year to try hanggliding. Turns out I am not very good in it sadly so I am still in the learning stage, but I really want to do this and I will... eventually...

I second that. I read it upon that suggestion and it is really good.
For the more philosophical parts, I also like "Spell of the senseous", which deals a lot about how we are indeed a part of and embedded in a living planet that looks at us as we look at everything around us.
And if you are more into Science, there is a book called "Animate Earth - Science, Intuition and Gaia" which is basically written for scientists and approaches the need for "oneness with nature" from the starting point of a scientist, beginning with scientific connections and theories and slowly includes intuition and emotion into it.

Wow, guys I truly am glad to be a part of this, part of those who truly see, all of you guys auroraglacialis, that was a great post to read, I very happy that someone is feeling the same way, and truly wants to make a difference through education. Neytiri was Grace Augustine's best student, so we should take that as motivation to do something as well! I look forward to talking to you guys more , please read my new post "My experience: Part Two"
