Default Post Your Outdoor Adventure

I don't think any thread has been posted for this yet (if I'm wrong we can merge it...)
Anyway, I know that there are at least a few of us on here that go out and do some crazy outdoor adventures. And instead of using up tons of threads why not make one for all of them.

Feel free to post info/pictures/videos on any outdoor adventure. This could include hiking/backpacking/camping/rafting/canoeing/biking/4X4/skiing...ect. Anything that takes you away from the crowded/busy cities and into the wilderness.

------------------------------------------

So I guess I'll go first:

Yesterday I climbed 10 peaks over 12,000 ft each, all within 12 hours. The total trek was 22.5 miles and overall had over 10,000 ft elevation gain. Needless to say the views were outstanding!

The Whole Hike:

Sunrise:

The view from Chief Cheley Peak (12,804 ft):

The view from Stones Peak (12,964 ft)

Holy cow...I thought I had done some tough hikes but I suddenly feel like a bleedin' lightweight; doing all that within 12 hours sounds insane! Awesome job though!

Yeah, I got pics to share and the like. I'll get around to posting them sometime later, I've been meaning to make such an album for a while.

And if all goes well, I'll be embarking on the biggest trek of my life in about a month...

Kind of on topic:
The meetup hike is going to be boss.

Nice

This is where I go sometimes:

It's a small forest, and a relatively long walk away, but nice to go to sometimes, and surprisingly quiet for its location.

Yeah, from what you've told me it sounds like the adventure of a lifetime. I'm quite jealous.

Unfortunately it's not guaranteed at the moment. I'll just have to wait and see for now. But boy would I love to do it...

Yeah, that one tree - second from the bottom - looks like the perfect tree to sit in.

Anyway, here are a few of my own pics...

Liberty Cap and Nevada Falls in Yosemite; I took this at the end of a 30 mi/48.2 km trek through the park.

Here's Guitar Lake as viewed from close to the summit of Mount Whitney. Took this on a 50 mi/80.5 km hike through the Sierra Nevada mountain range a couple years ago. It was September, so there was very little snow around.

For as long as I've loved the outdoors, I've loved the Sierras. So many good memories there, and so many places to get lost in. My heart leaps whenever my brain thinks about going back there.

And then here's something from Point Reyes, of which I've got more pics in the Pandora on Earth thread.

I've got a few more pics in the album on my profile as well.

Some amazing pictues here...

No matter if it is forest, woodland, rainforest, coastline, desert or mountains, if it is purely of nature's incredible engineering... it always take my breath away.

All my sentiments exactly!

@Empty Glass: I think I mentioned this in your album, but seriously awesome shots. Some of it reminds me of my mountains/forests and some of it is looks completely new to me. One day I will make it to CA and we will have to do some awesome adventure.

Seriously, I think it's only a matter of time until that happens. I mean, you really want to visit California, and I really want to visit Colorado...the only question is when's that gonna happen.

Glad you like the shots!

Well, another awesome adventure this last week.

Now that it is winter over here, the game changes and the snow, cold and less light time effect a lot about hiking.

I left at 3:00 AM to go climb 3 peaks. Flattop, Hallett and Taylor. (I'd never been on top of Taylor before the hike.)

I got back home at 7:30 PM and the hike was about 16 miles with about 6,000 ft total elevation gain.

I recorded a bunch of clips along the way to show people how awesome (and dangerous) Colorado winter hiking can be as well as to give everyone some cool info about the area and winter hiking in general.

Stunning!

Very envious of you there Aketuan to have such a wonderful landscape to enjoy on your doorstep.
Being high up in the mountains, although physically demanding, is without doubt my favorite place to be.

I can appreciate the levels of fitness and commitment you need to achieve this sort of thing as I've done it myself, in the Swiss Alps, albeit a few years back now until more recently back problems stopped me in my tracks.

A recent op seems to have sorted me out and I'm ready to start this adventure again, although the European Alps is my obvious destination.
The peaks there are of a similar altitude to those in Colorado by the looks of it.

I have skied in the States but never hiked, so it is something I would like to do in the near future, although finding time to do these things can be wishful thinking sometimes.

If I ever visit your neck of the woods, I'll be sure to look you up.

Congratulations on completing your hike!
