Question The Holidays - What do you enjoy the most?

When it comes to the holiday seasons such as Thanksgiving (USA), Christmas, what do you look forward to each year? What makes it so special?

Going out in the different "teams" for different types of game that will be on the table on Thanksgiving, Christmas day, and New Year's Eve.
Two weeks before T-Day,about twenty of us in the family all head back to the family Elder's home near the Reservation, and it takes the better part of an hour for everyone to unload all the Guns, Archery Equipment, and Ammo from our different cars and Pick up Trucks.
A week before T-day, we split into different teams, according to our specialties, some for White Tailed Deer, some for Russian Wild Boar, some for Wild Turkey, the young teens for small game, and the wing shooters for Pheasant, Quail, Dove, and Duck.
After two days, the game is draining and aging while hanging off the rafters in the Garage, and on T-day, the 4 foot by 12 foot, five inch thick oak table is groaning under the weight of all the wild game as the the 42 family members file by, and grab what they want to eat.
ALL the Hunters, sit at one large table at the head of the room, and the camaraderie between us is the same as it was in Europe several hundred years ago, and always has been for the native peoples of North America.

Family, food, putting up decorations but best of all is the snow! I wonder if there is a better feeling than being the very first to walk across a field covered in snow.

The ONLY thing that I can think of that could possibly better that, would be skiing down fresh powder Thad snowen on the mountain that you lived on the night before, looking up the mountain that you just ski'd down, and see only one set of tracks. Only if you were skiing fresh powder snow though. Do you like the crunching sound when you walk on dry powder snow Stag??

Hell yes That crunching sound is half the fun. Can't say that I have ever tried skiing, very few places in the UK you can do it.

Yeah, I guess that you would have to go to Scottland for the closest skiing to where you are. It's 01:35 here in the States, so I'm going to go to bed my friend. Have a WONDERFUL Holiday Season. Txon lefpom.

When it comes to what I'm doing here, I really don't know. I even managed to miss out on Halloween cause it's not as much a big deal here as it is in the US, or at least in New Orleans. My mom and I did always get a tree. The one year she got some potted plant thing instead of a tree was the year before Katrina, so I guess that was enough of an excuse for us to continue having a real tree (even though there's really no point and it's kind of bizarre, only the two of us living there, demand for trees would be out of control if everyone were like us). I liked hanging things on it, the way it smelled, and my cats liked to climb around in it and hide back there

Edit: Also EGGNOG, how could I forget the nog

Free food is always nice, as is alcohol. Sometimes it's nice to do things I don't really normally do, like watch bad TV and eat a big lunch.

Meeting family is a weird one, it's nice for a while, but enough time with them and people start to get annoyed with each other.

The part I enjoy most? January second. Why? Because that is when the Christmas music stops playing at work!

Seven years in retail has made me hate the Holidays.
