Default Hello

Hi everyone. I found this board a while back and finally decided to join. As a Pagan, I completely identify with the Na'vi, and with ourselves as an integral part of the world soul. Avatar is highly regarded in the Pagan community. I look forward to participating here.

And we look forward to having you here.

A pagan, you say? I'm very interested in that belief system... Perhaps you could start a thread on it, sometime?

Certainly, paganism covers a wide spectrum of beliefs.

Howdy.

Nice to have you.

Don't be mistaken, though; the Na'vi are not Pagan.

They worship a highly intelligent plant-like organism as their deity. It's just protecting them and making sure to keep the ecosystem in balance should something be amiss, and enjoying the mutual protection that the Na'vi give to it.

This is also known as a mutualistic relationship in nature; two organisms are interacting in a way that benefits both parties.

It also has the uncanny ability to somehow store data from biological entities in a biological format; the "spirits" of their ancestors are just stored conciousnesses that reside inside "Eywa" like files in a computer.

Besides, I'm no expert on the subject, but isn't paganism polytheistic?

only imho & with all due respect: it is a "Hello" thread... is it right to discuss the religious / spiritual views, or the absence of such, right here & now?

Let the author decide - this thread is "his land" - whether to support this conversation (discussion?) or not. And if yes - then how he defines "pagan", and why he thinks that it has to do with the Na'vi.

Or maybe he decides to open a whole new thread for it. if he feels like-

I agree with apache_blanca, to 100%. Eywa is not a highly advanced physical entity. Eywa is not a spiritual deity. Eywa is exactly how YOU personally interprets her. Either of the above, or something completely different.

One could see Avatar in a million ways, and they are all equally right. And that's the beauty of it.

Raiden: As for paganism being polytheistic - there are a million ways to look at paganism too, and they all also differ and are just as correct as the other.

Paganism covers a wide gamut of beliefs, including, but not limited to, polytheism. I think a thread discussing this is a good idea. I'll start one when I grab the time to do it justice.
