Hey, wow, Aketuan. That is an amazing deal! I really want to go up hometree...errr...I mean the pointy thingy...errrr, I mean the space needle. Going up there in the evening would be just an amazing way to watch the sun set together.

And it seems we won't be short of places to eat with the list Fiyerwall has found.

Well, I've had a reply from the Travelodge regarding booking rooms there. They have been so flexible for us. Just read this extract:

"There’s no time that you have to give me more firm numbers by. As of right now, we have plenty of rooms available, but within the next couple months we’re going to start getting a lot reservations for that time of year. I would recommend letting me know within the next month. You don’t have to worry about doing it in the next few days."

I guess the question now is how we go about co-ordinating room sharing? I know that the lady at the Travelodge has said there is no rush, but we really need to get our skates on to make sure we don't end up disapointed.

Perhaps the best way is for people to co-ordinate amongst their friends to arrange room sharing and take it from there? It might be a bit long winded and difficult to centrally co-ordinate a list of people attending from 6 different Avatar Fan forums me thinks

It might be a nice surprise to get there and actually see who has arrived! But I'm open to suggestions.

Yeah, I think it would be worthwhile to climb up there.

Ok, so great news! Lets get the number of people finalized in the next week or so and get the booking done.

Agreed, we should all find someone to room with, or if you prefer it, state that you want your own room.

About the keeping things straight with other forums thing. I suggested a mass email system on LN and I think it would be the perfect solution. When a thread on one of the forums is updated with critical information or anything worth mentioning, we would just let everyone on the contact list know the details. It would be a lot less messy than dealing with 6 separate threads.

If everyone is ok with it, I volunteer to get the emails put together and monitor all of the threads for info. I could send out two types of emails. One for urgent new information, and another for fun information about the trip. When new info is added it would be sent to everyone interested in going.

Yeah maybe we just need to post here or allow people to contact each other an book. We don't have to make one booking. We can actually book individually. I'll be posting up details shortly. I might show a bit of willing with the Hotel being as I've got them to give us this offer and make a booking. I'll book a twin bed, so if anyone wants to share they are welcome to, if they can put up with an Englinshman!

Hey, your the man Irayo for volunteering. I guess all you would need to do is email the links out to people from the forums when a new post is made on the topic. I know CyanRachel has posted on Na'viBlue and Avatar Prime. I've posted on Avatar Wiki and LearnNa'vi...oh and AF as you know. I guess the best thing is to PM you our email addresses?

Oh by the way. For awayone who cannot make the 4th June, there as some people on LearnNa'vi who are looking to make a visit to Seattle on 9th July. You can follow their thread here:

Seattle Museum.

I'll be replying shortly with details about making bookings at the Travelodge for the 4th June shortly.

Until then, kiyevame!

Yeah, when you get the final details be sure and let us know. I might be interested in booking the room with you... if you can put up with a Coloradoan. (I still have to check on some things though, so don't quote me on that just yet)

Yeah, I'll flood all of the threads and get people who are interested in going, to send me their email addresses...and PM the people we know are interested... I'll check into all of those forums. [The only one I haven't visited is avatar wiki...]

So... everyone that is interested in going to Seattle with either group should send me their email address.
You can PM it to me or send it to the new email I created just for this... IkranNews@gmail.com

We can send out important messages and critical info when it is announced on a thread somewhere.

Ok folks, we now have the arrangements for our accommodation finalised, so just to recap:

The following info is for anyone wishing to go to the Seattle Avatar Fan meet-up for the long awaited opening of the Avatar Exhibition at the Science Fiction Museum over the weekend of 4th and 5th June.

The deal is as follows:
  • The hotel we will be staying at is the Travelodge located on 200 6th Ave N Seattle.
  • This hotel is a ten minute walk from the Science Fiction Museum and Science Park
  • The group booking discount we have been able to get is 15% off the normal price.
  • This means the weeknight rate will be $110, the weekend rate will be $144. This does not include tax, but with 15% off, it is effectively tax free! Of course if you share a room the price is halved.
  • If you are taking a car there will be a $10 parking fee per day.
  • Breakfast is included, both cold and cooked breakfast is available.
  • There is also a gym, outdoor pool and hot tube for use also included.
  • You are not fixed to a duration as long as it includes the weekend of 4th and 5th June.
  • You will be able to make the booking yourself. This cannot be done online. Instead they will take the bookings via either email or by telephone. Details given below.

The lady at the Travelodge has said: ”…Generally we require at least 10 rooms for the group discount, but since you already have 7, that’s fine….As of right now, we have plenty of rooms available, but within the next couple months we’re going to start getting a lot reservations for that time of year. I would recommend letting me know within the next month.”

However, I would suggest that to avoid any disappointment we make our bookings as soon as possible so we can start thinking about how we would like to spend our time together there, i.e. the fun stuff!

So how do you make a booking?:
Quite simply you can either ring them up or email them giving the following information:
  • State it is part of the 'Avatar Fan Communities booking'.
  • State the arrival and departure date, which should include the 4th June.
  • State the type of room you wish to book: 1 double bed or 2 double beds. i.e. to sleep one or two persons respectively.

To make your booking simply contact the Travelodge by either calling 206-441-7878 or email them on: GuestServices@TravelodgeSeattleCenter.com.

If you have any questions or queries, please don't hesitate to get in touch. I'll do my best to help out.

Oel ngati kameie...soon,

Alan

Irayo, Alan, for posting all this info! I'm going to book my hotel room ASAP.

Also, I got the following additional response from the museum box office (after I sent them an email with a question to further clarify what they had told me initially):

"You may purchase tickets in advance online at anytime- those tickets will be good for one year from the purchase date and will include admission into Avatar: The Exhibit. If you are purchasing tickets for a group of 9 or more, please call Brady at 206.770.2776."
Thanks!
Sami

So as soon as we know if we have a group of 9 or more (or as soon as we know how many of us there will be at the museum on June 4th, regardless), we should purchase the museum tickets.

Great info! The only thing I have to say is that there may be a better deal. I found this:

Kaltxi Aketuan,

I had a thought go through my head (it echoed a bit ) Anyway, hows this for a plan? I suspect we will spend the whole of Saturday in the Science Fiction Museum so it might well be worth going with the Gruop Ticket the CyanRachel has found out about for us.

Then on the Sunday we could go with the cityPASS as it still allows entry to the Science Fiction Museum - just incase we still need to polish the exhibition off - before exploring hometree and the Pandoran jungle....errr...I mean the space Needle and city sights.

It might be a rough plan to start with? Just a thought anyway.

Alan

Kaltxi folks,

I've just had the following information from the Travelodge regarding the 4th June meet-up:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------The above room rate includes COMPLIMENTARY HOT & COLD BREAKFAST from 6:30am - 9:30am.

To make reservations: Please call (206) 441-7878, 800-578-7878 or email to guestservices@TravelodgeSeattleCenter.com.
They are to mention the "Avatar Fan Communities" giving the reservationist their arrival date, names, address and credit
card infomation.

Note: All reservations must be made no later than May 2nd, 2011 to recieve the Group Rate. After this date
they will be subject to the standard rates.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------

They have already started taking reservations and currently holding 5 x 1 bed rooms and 5 x 2 bed rooms, but you can state your preference. Just remember to state Avatar Fan Communities when reserving your room to get the discount. They added that "We’ve already started receiving reservations, so your group is all set."

So I think we are off and running folks!

Alan

Irayo, Alan, for posting the additional info -- well done!
I booked my hotel room yesterday.
And I like your idea of the group rate tickets for the museum on June 4th, and the City Pass for the rest of our time in Seattle.

Thanks Alan for the info! I take it you make the reservation now, and then when you arrive you pay for the rooms? I'm not sure I have the funds necessary to pay for it all right now....

Once again thanks for all the info, Alan!

I am going to be sharing a room with miss tammy and we're going to be making our reservations as soon as we can. I also think that the group discount on Scifi museum tickets is a great idea. To whomever is ordering the tickets, you can definitely put myself and miss tammy down for a ticket each.

I was looking up the citypass and the only thing that worries me about that is I don't know if it would be worth the money to some people. I'll be arriving Friday afternoon and leaving Monday afternoon and with Saturday being completely filled with the Avatar exhibit, I just don't know if I'd have the time to go to all the places the citypass allows. If people were staying for longer periods of time, it would probably be a great idea to get one. If we could get an idea of what everyone would like to do, maybe we could figure out who would and wouldn't benefit from the pass.

Nice, that sound like a good idea. We should see who would benefit most from the extra tickets.... It will be nice to meet you in Seattle

Also, I just sent out the first newsletter with some good info on the hotel situation, and ticket situation...I think we are up to 11 people signed up for it now...

HOWEVER:
1. there are some compatibility issues with certain browsers and email providers, so if it doesn't work you can click on the html file link sent with it (preferably) or the PDF direct link.
2. Some computers see it as a "threat" because it has html code in it, I swear that I did not add some random virus into it... so just tell the browser to accept it/download it/view it/whatever...

ALSO: This is the first one, so there is definitely room for improvement or changes, so please tell me if something isn't right or if you have something to add to the next one, just tell me.
