When/where would you want this to take place that it would be most likely you could attend?
November 2012 - July 2013, UK (Potential location is no longer extended to other areas of Europe, I am just entirely too broke) |

I know the feeling. As far as I know, not a single Avatar minimeet has ever taken place in New York (City). The closest one I missed was King of Prussia, Pennsylvania early 2010. |

It was more of a sightseeing/holiday type thing though rather than anything specifically Avatar related. The five of us did the same again this year, but in Washington DC. We posted info on it for anyone to join us. Here's a one of the short videos from the mini-meet: Alan's AvatarMeet Journal: 5 - YouTube Well, you know what, we'll just have to do it again! Hehehe. You could always join us in the UK, once something is planned ![]() Alan |

![]() Well it's a thought anyway. Besides, it's highly likely that I will touch down on the East Coast first for a mini-meet up again so perhaps an opportunity there for us to meet up? Just to stay on topic, How many Brits are there out there who would like to meet up?...or am I going to be overwhelmed by silence....(hehehe) Alan |

*BOING!
Did someone mention a mini meet up in the UK? Cool ![]() Would it be a day or a weekend thing? Where would it be? London? Tad bit expensive, but loads to see and places to visit. Or somewhere in the middle so it is equi-distant for people to get to? Could be an autumn meet up or a spring meet up, say around Easter time when perhaps more folks might be available? Ooo....me getting excited!! Alan |

Yeah, I wouldn't advise London. At first, I didn't really know how dorms were set up. If they had been like my old dorms, which were really easy to get other people into and give them places to sleep, I was prepared to let some people be bums in my dorm, but they're kind of different, no communal living room or any way to really move furniture around. That said, I'd be all for pretty much any other place, and I like your idea of having it be somewhere in the middle, but I'm up for anything.

Well, here is a link to my county website which might be worth a look see:
Visit Derbyshire - The Online Tourism Guide I guess it all depends what people would like to do. Derbyshire is countryside really. No great mountains, but more like rolling countryside. So great for for gentle hiking. Pretty good transport. There is a county day travel pass for the bus and train at £11:50 or £20 for two people, which is good value - for UK travel costs! Derbyshire is famous for...errr.... -Florence Nightingale -Chatsworth House (been is a shed load of films) -Birth place of the RDA...errr...I mean industrial revolution (first factory in the world) -As far as Bonny Price Charlie got with his invasion of England -Hadden Hall (been in a shed load of films!) -Crown Derby Pottery -Home of Rolls-Royce -ooo...and me!!! HAHAHAHAHAHA As for when...well depends I guess. A nice time might be Easter as things are just warming up with Spring...unless floks would like to meet sooner. Another place might be Birmingham, but it is is all city really, unless you travel a bit further out to places like Kidderminster, where they is one of the Premier Steam railways in the country. Brum, as is it called locally is big for shopping and does have an IMAX, now called 'The Giant Screen'. There is a sealife centre, but a bit expensive to go in although, quite good. There is Nottingham too - home of Robin Hood. Really good shopping place. It has a 'castle', which is more like a large manor house now. It has a cinema, theatre and concert hall too. So there's a few ideas. Any thoughts? Alan |

Well, there's always Edinburgh and Glasgow...
![]() And I'm not just saying that because I live closer to them than to Derbyshire. They've got tourist-y stuff coming out the wazoo (especially in Glasgow), including castles, museums and stuff like the Edinburgh Dungeon. Also, accommodation is probably going to be vastly cheaper than in London. (Also, pretty much every con that passes through Scotland goes through Glasgow, so if we pick our date right, we might wind up in the middle of something bigger. )

It's been a while since I've been to Scotland. Would be nice to come up your way again Clarke. I've been to Edinburgh more times than I can shake a stick at, but I have bearly moved from the station! I made it onto Princess Street once and got some Edinburgh rock! Om, yom, yom...boy is that nice. Completely bad for you, but soooooo nice!

Those that I know of would be you, me, HNM, and Clarke. Everyone else I've mentioned it to really needed to know when/where it would be, which is why I made this thread, so people could suggest what would be easiest for them and I could see what most people agreed on. Going to wait a little bit longer before I start spamming it in IRC, but that'll come if I don't get more responses
