Yes, so many interesting cameras! I'm sure the street price of the C500 will be only more painful than the C300, though. The 1D C is an interesting animal, but they mention lack of zebra and peaking, and I'm suddenly confused about what they're trying to create. Canon is going berserk! Still wish I could justifying a C300.

Could be a lot of fun! The internal battery is stupid (Blackmagic seems to be in love with built-in, non-removable batteries--like in cell phones!), but the rest of the features are pretty amazing for the price. And then there's the Digital Bolex...

I was about to grab a Nikon D4, but now I'm hearing rumors of a D400, and it sounds a bit more like what I'm looking for (and cheaper). But waiting sucks!!

How 'bout for you?

Ha-haaa! Definitely not an insult. Being a port city, Seattle is such a cultural blend that I think everybody can find a bit of themselves in it. It's when you head to the "heartlands"/"bible belt" of the US that you're in for a shock! (I shocks even me--seriously, what's with not being able to buy beer on Sunday?! )

One of these days, I'll make it to your side of the ocean! I really need to do that.

All these camera releases and so little raw footage... It's killing me! I really can't wait to see the average-Joe reviews of the new Nikon and Canon gear. For both video and astrophotography, I'm definitely leaning Nikon, but that's based on a few specs and a bunch of hunches! Gotta resolve the latter before opening my wallet!

Hey ma tsmukan! Remember me? The deaf guy that you sent your user-created Avatar video to a long time ago? Well, guess what? I was thinking about that video recently in the last couple days and I watched it again today. I wanted to give you a heart-felt thank you for showing me 'Our Only Home' made in subtitles, that really meant a lot to me. It's incredibly inspiring to see more and more people are willing to act on a cause beneficial to our beloved planet Earth on a daily basis. Irayo!

I was also wondering, the next time you make another video like this, can I be a part of it as well? I could present myself in sign language and speak at the same time so others can understand me. Is that okay with you?

Awesome! Very nice shots, and some spot-on cutting, too!! The EX1 puts on a clean show in the dark.

Coincidentally, we had snow on the ground in Seattle at the same time. Didn't stick around for long, but as usual it was long enough to shut the place down! We get some snow pretty much every year, but nobody seems to know how to drive in the stuff! (Of course, *I* do... )

The 5D MkIII looks pretty neat. Canon's site isn't talking details about the HDMI and a number of other nice-to-know things, and your Philip Bloom hasn't managed to get his hands on one yet, so... who knows?! I have no glass, so I'll be second-guessing myself for a few more months!

Picked up your C300 yet?! I'll admit, I contemplated every manner of financial gymnastics I could dream up, but finally gave in to reason! Sort of. Now I'm seriously contemplating the Nikon D4. Never had a DSLR, and the various crop modes of the D4, together with awesome low-light performance, might be a winner. And might finally let me do some astrophotography with my old Meade 3" telescope that's been gathering dust. Video samples from the D4 are pretty scarce, though, so I'm definitely looking forward to seeing some raw footage from those first few brave buyers. I also happen to have a couple of friends with substantial investments in Nikkor glass, so test-driving lenses before buying them would be a breeze!

Any words of wisdom for a prospective DSLR shooter? (I believe you mentioned you'd done a bit of that.)
