Ooo....very nice. I must admit I prefer the Canon one, but I haven't seen anywhere a comparison between the two. But that's all accademic for me really - $14,000 is a little on a steep side...unless I won the lottery - hehehe.

However, I might see if I can save up for another XF105 and a 3D rig like this: http://www.hurricane-rig.com/ It incorporates side by side and beam spliter. If I did get one before the Meet Up, I'm not sure I'd bring it as it would be an awful lot to cart about. They also take quite a bit of setting up - for each shot!

But it would be real cool to have one at the meet up and record the event in 3D! There is a Sony option for that I guess....here

You didn't see this, did you. The cheapest stock Scarlet X package supports your electronic EF EOS lenses. You actually have to pay more if you want a "dumb" PL mount.

...but a 300C would be nice, too.

Maybe building your own Fusion system out of XF105's? Be sure to bring it to the Meetup!

Sorry for the slow response Aaron - I've been busy editing my New York holiday video to get it into the post for the Avatar friends I met there so they get it before Christmas! Phew..

Ah so the Taronyu is back As for a Scarlet...well...nahh...I'd really like to go for a Canon 300C. That looks like the Thanator's dangly bits and since you can get it with an EF mount I could use my EOS lens on it. But am I getting one? Nahhhh....not at £14,000! I alread have a Sony EX1 and Canon XF105.

Although I was wondering about another XF105 to do stereo filming, but...bit of learning first about convergence, inter axial distance...and stuff!...

(just catching up after a few weeks' absence--reprised my role of taronyu on my annual hunting trip )

Ha-haaa!! So, you're picking one up? (Or planning on it?) I'm still debating, but I was really hoping for the 2/3" 3K setup for less money. The Scarlet X is clearly an amazing device, but not something I'd be doing much casual shooting with. We'll see! 3K at 120fps was the big carrot for me. Scarlet X with PL mount, handle, display, and one reputable prime lens comes to $20k. Wowzers! Unless I sold off most of my other gear, I think I'd feel too guilty!

*runs off to catch up on the meetup thread*

Hey Aaron. How's it going over your way? Decided on an 'Scarlet' yet? Might be an opportunity for you to use one next year...

Kaltxi Aaron. Boy am I still worn out! I would have thought I would be bright eyed and bushy tailed by now I'm still dragging my knuckles along the floor! As a result the editing is going slow at the moment.

Yeah, I'll keep you posted if we get to do another forum film project. Our Only Home certainly was a lot of fun and an amazining experience to make.

Take care and keep well. Alan.

A belated 'irayo' for the friendship! I hope the video cutting is going well. If you're ever inspired to do another community video project, I shall look forward to taking part. That really looks like it was a lot of fun to make. Best -- Aaron.
