Irayo ma eylan, yes you're spot on about freedom fighters: my Polish ancestors, from that grandfather's line, were always at the head of people's rebellions & revolutions - the earliest I know of was Tadeush Kostyushko's rebellion, in 1793! and maybe there were earlier ones...
But God's ways are mysterious: in GULAG, my granddad met my grandma who was... a prison doctor! in fact the only doctor with higher education for thousands of square miles of tundra. She was healing miners, sailors, prisoners, Party's bosses & also the natives, she travelled with huskies, deer, off-road snow vehicles - & helicopters! So yeah, fancy this love story: "from Siberia with love" - & here I am
You & Niri Te have tremendous life stories too, I love to listen to interesting lives, some people become very special as a result of this personal progress. Don Juan says "a whole warrior is good but the one who was broken & repaired is much better".
Linking out, you have a nice day" hayavalo

Thanks be to Eywa/Yaweh that your family is now safe from KGB. How terrible to have spent 30 years in GULAG. You come from a family of resistors and freedom fighters. Niri Te once dated a Hungarian woman whose family where persued out of Hungary by the Russians. They made it through the Austrian border minutes before the Russians, many of her family were killed. ives you a deep appreciation for the freedoms we now enjoy.

ma oeya eylan, irayo for all your VMs, & for Niri Te's interview - very interesting, but - again! - I need time for a good reply cos now I am in my RDA lab & Selfridge is sitting right behind my back thinking what other planet he can rob for un-obtainium - or un-existenium...

But very quickly - irayo for telling me your family story, great that you got to see your grandmas; I read the book 'The 13 Indigenous Grandmothers (that counsel the world) - I would love to meet them, or at least one of them, or at least somebody like them! haha & you made me smile about "short stature" cos my Colombian Apaches were very short too, they hardly reached my nose - but they were tough as a clenched fist! They would pick me up & run in circles around the backyard, I was laughing & couldn't understand, why, but later I realized that they loved me & it was their game & the way of showing their feelings.
I've got to link out to keep my txim safe from the RDA!

MA 'EYLAN! Irayo for putting me in touch with the cosplay group on ToS. Niri Te si oe will check out a big costume shop in downtown El Paso on the first. If they have green PAX I could always practice by being a leprechaun for St. Paddy's Day!

Oeya sa'nok was named Villanueva and was born in Texas. Her parents each came from Mexico as infants. Her father came from Spanish stock, but her Mother was from a Mexican Indian stock, probably Tarahumara. I met my great grandmother and two of her sisters when I was a child. The were all in their 90's, and very small in stature. Unfortunately, they only spoke Spanish and I do not. But my Mom hasstories of growing up with greatgrandmother, helping her to run a stone trading post in Laredo, Texas.
My grandmother still lived in that house when I visited. I could still see the faded Pepsi Cola sign painted on the stone walls! I hope my uncle left that house standing.
