Sometimes I forget that not everyone here has English for a mother tongue. "Chaps" is an item of clothing that is worn like pants, but does not completely cover all the areas of the leg. They are mainly used for protection like when riding a horse or a motorcycle. In the movie when Neytiri is riding her banshee, she is seen wearing something that protects the inside of her legs from rubbing up against the ikran saddle. Hers are purple and mainly cover the insides of her legs. Does that help?
