Thankyou Matthew, I mean that. I'm glad to see that we share a common longing. But yes, I suppose we have a hole that we need to fill, I think we should travel around, meet other people from different faiths and grow to form our own unique spirituality.
That I can understand, I was baptised as a catholic when I was a baby but when I heard a religious teacher in school say that there are many bridges to god but only christianity is the true one and the others are broken..I wanted nothing to do with christianity anymore, much like with your experiance. That is very, very true. That's what I do and it works for me but I try to blend spirituality in everything that I do. For example the buddhist truth that desire causes suffering is my mantra that I use to combat consumerism and the media. Religion causes a lot of trouble to be honest. I will use Islamic teaching in my spirituality though such as giving charity to others. Government should always be secular.
