Well, things are not easy -not even in arts. So you may just have found your first obstacle to sort out.

If you really love music you should not only keep going on your passion and not care about your parents' opinion or indifference -but to also show them you *are* good at it!

On a side note, I don't know if I could keep the break for too much, ToS is still addictive and it's difficult to resist that temptation of pushing the "new thread" button.

Yeah, I guess... But it's saddening that I'm not even in the business yet, and I feel alone in it. I expect it'll be hard in later life, but I didn't expect I wouldn't be supported in it by my own family.

When I was contemplating being a pianist when I was around 13-14, my mom and dad were 10 times worse on that. My dad even went so far to say I'd end up living like a bum in the end. I was completely discouraged by them to become a pianist... but I realized in time that it's much harder to be a pianist than to be creative in my own music. I'm not a master piano player, but I'm good enough (I believe) to create my own work. But even that isn't really a deal with them. My mom sometimes mentions to people that I wish to become a composer for film, but that's as far as her knowledge goes because she has absolutely no care at all in learning any more than that one fact.

But thanks for the words; I do appreciate it. And good luck on your time away.

    Just don't give up, OK?

Keep up with your projects and don't let anyone or anything stop you from them. If your family doesn't support you -God damn it! Keep going, they'll appreciate it if you get to make something big, but you do not depend on what they say to keep going with your career!

I know how it feels being alone in a whole project nobody else gives a damn about -but take it as a challenge and a lesson, for you will not always have the people being nice or staying interested in you.
