Default Na'vi canibalistic tribes?

Like the Caribs, some African tribes, I think there were some indian tribes that had canibalism as well. And If a Na'vi ate a human would it also be canibalism? would a Na'vi eat a human? what do you think?

If I eat a delicious chimpanzee is it cannibalism? Use your head.

Cannibalism per definition only refer to members of a species eating members of the same species, so a Na'vi eating a human isn't quite cannibalism.

That said, it does bring the question whether there could exist Na'vi cannibalistic tribes on Pandora - in general we haven't really gotten a closer look at any really warlike/less 'harmonic' tribes if any exist. An interesting thought, especially considering how much the Na'vi were inspired by tribes on Earth and how easy it is to romanticize tribal life.

Cannibalism isn't for fun. There must be some cultural or survival or both purposes for the clan. You'll probably need a place with a lack of food.

There's certainly been a lot of cannibalistic practices on Earth that have been for purposes other than survival - as you pointed out, mostly cultural. We do know there's conflict between Na'vi clans to some degree and that they can be a warlike people at times - not that this is related to cannibalism per se but there might certainly be clans with a culture allowing for this kind of thing.

Or perhaps there was, but the last Toruk Makto abolished such practices

Knowing what they have done to the Omatikaya, they might consider it as cursed.

Well, you don't necessarily want to be fed by the demons.
Also, since it comes from the sky, they would probably be very wary about that. Culturally, it might not be considered as coming from the realm of Eywa. On the other hand, they would know neither the nutritional values nor the toxicity. I would also consider that Jake (the new Omaticaya leader) and the gang who stayed would also influence the decision.

Only James Cameron can truly answer that question ,, I personaly see no signs or even hints of Cannibalistic behavior in avatars reflective symbolgy that would indicate the Na'vi would eat humans or other Na'vi people "but" I will take into account that given there reflective history upon some of the source aspects the Haudenosaunee (North America New York region) as well as other south American tribes (in there distant past history) ,, it may have happened "during the time of great sorrow" when the clans may have fought each other ,, Please remember the word "Indians" is a label Europeans came up with to describe the peoples they found here ,,thinking originally they landed on the shores of the east "indies" (So these people here allready must of course be Indians) it was often used in a negative manor to define race relations,, We The so called "Civilized people", and those people over there are Indians . Original peoples who where here called themselves The "Lakota or The Navajo etc " or more simply "I am "My peoples tribe or clan" not using I am an Indian ... so to be correct one would say "I am of the Lakota people" The Omaticaya people are the constructed cultural identity of The main Na'vi clan in Avatar.. but they "see" themselves as part of a much bigger circle ,, so "A Na'vi person recognizes internally that they are a core part of "The people" as an example just as Jake is Adopted into the clan and recognized on this level in the films story would love to go deeper into this structure but I may drive the thread off its core topic if I do so.
