Things people have done that have made you smile after watching Avatar

This thread pretty much speaks for itself. What I am asking all of you guys is: After watching Avatar and having been shown the negative aspects of humanity. Has there been any incidents in real life since then that have made you smile and consider humanity in a more positive light?

For me, I only need to look at what happened today:
I got a bus to the sports physiotherapist this afternoon and the bus went past an elderly couple on the other side of the road and were trying to catch it. A lady on the bus saw and yelled out for the driver to stop: He did, and the elderly people gratefully managed to get on the bus. It made me smile, to see that at least one person cared about another..

What about the rest of you: Anything to share that made you smile?

So SO many things make me smile (Though to be fair, most still made me smile before avatar, i just didn't always find the time to appreciate it)

I really smile at the elderly as well, just the other day i befriended one on the bus, because i mean... why not? she's there by herself and cute as a button! The genuine smiles and appreciation they give? Ugh, it melts my heart!

Even just so much as pushing the cross light for cars waiting on a red light. I smile, i know they appreciate it.

Most of all is nature though. The little playing squirrels and the stars at night. The warm sun on a cool day. Even weeds have flowers, i have a new like for dandelions :)

I've always been a smiley/happy girl... but since avatar i haven't been afraid to show it!

Hmm this is closely related, i was bored during biology today, and i started drawing a pretty good picture of neytiri in my work book, and without warning my teacher was behind me looking and smiling, haha he said you have a thing for her too, i could'nt contain myself it was really cool, he is about twenty five and has been after that, much more leniant with me and my work :)

Also there was this sweet elderly lady stuggling to pack the bags into her car when i walked home, soo i decided to help, things like that make you feel soo good about yourself, her kind hearted thank you was all the reward i needed.

For some reason, when I see a spider or an insect just sitting there. I kind of smile and wonder if I should put it outside... than again they reproduce like there's no tomorrow, you know what I'm sayin? I never did this, I just killed them out of impulse before.

Other than that, I smile more at more reckless activity and smile at random strangers with a party wave while I roam on my bicycle. Plus I talk to random people on the bus, ain't it fun!

Kids. I love to see them playing and laughing all the way, I wish the rest of the world has the same innocence as they have.

And also, maybe laughing inside when I see the large walls we build around our cities (I live in the suburbs of Madrid), you can see the clear contrast between concrete and grass. I don't know, it's a feeling like "And this is what we fear so much?" And then I take a short walk around a hill next to my place and see all the highway and the trains passing by.

BTW you cannot get out the city by yourself, you have to get a car or a bus ticket. I've tried to in three different cities but the roads don't let you move out.

A pity when I was in Ponferrada, the landscape was so beautiful I just wanted to get down a near river.

Some of my friends who are afraid of snow :P I just smile and think: "It's not that cold if you know what to wear"

I second this :)

I love it when people help each other out ;)

I can't help but smile when little kids are laughing and playing with each other..They have no troubles in the world.
My little brother brought me tea in bed this morning without me asking him..That made me smile so much :)

I like what you guys have said :D

One thing I immediately thought of... I go for walks as often as I can, to a small area of forest - I head into the deepest part (which isn't that deep because, as I said, it's only small), and I take my shoes off, squidge my feet into the earth and sit against a tree, looking up at the leaves and just absorbing the sounds around me (OR the Avatar soundtrack). Well, the last time I went there, I was sitting under my tree and this older man came walking through with his kid (or grand-kid, not too sure) - kid went running off, leaving man to tag behind, and he looked at me as he passed. I don't know if it sounds silly but I felt like he just... he just *got* it, you know? Understood my peaceful frame of mind, and why I was there, and as he walked past he gave me this massive thumbs up and just nodded his head. I've found that people I know irl don't usually *get* it, so this small, miniscule moment was really nice to me.

You just witnessed a miracle. I mostly get stares and taunts from little children. It's rather uncomfortable if it keeps happening.

I'm going to be brutally honest the movie never made me see humanity as a whole in a negative light and I'm sorry for all those that did as I'm certain it was never Cameron's intention for that to happen as it wasn't for people to commit suicide to become a Na'vi and so on.

Toshowlove 04-24-2010 02:51 AM

/me still REALLY likes this thread.

Another thing that makes me smile is love. Being able to be silly with someone and appreciate what makes them, well, them. Its Just a warm fuzzy feeling when the person you're with knows all those things about you too. Knowing you're able to appreciate EVERYTHING (Good, or bad) about someone and not even question it. Its so nice!

And i know its been posted already, but damn it i spend so much of my life with children i have to mention it too! Kids. The BRUTAL honesty and pureness of them ceases to amaze me. They also have the uncanny ability to just know the ROOT of whats bugging you. With other adults its alot of extraneous causes that people use to help you feel better "Oh, you know he's just busy with school blah blah" but with kids its "Of course he loves you silly, look at his face!"

I love ze smiles :)

Just this evening I took interest in what my little cousin was drawing and it made me smile. Because I remember when I was like that. Drawing every little thing that popped into my head.

He asked me what I thought of it and before I could answer his big sister butted in and said that it looked stupid. I thought it was really neat. I said that it is a great abstract and is really creative. He smiled and I smiled. She looked away.

The school I go to is a very tight community, where everyone knows everyone and actually cares if something happens to someone. Also my school has taken major steps to go green (in small part thanks to me). It gives me hope.

That's great!

Our school has taken steps to improve but they are pretty bad on spending. Wasting money here and begging for it there.

They changed the computers to be more energy efficient, installed solar panels, keep an active greenhouse, and many gardens in the quad lot. We even planted a tree on Earth day, which I had the pleasure of digging the hole fore.

*smiles*

I always smile when someone offers me something like food and won't ask for anything back. They do it out of the kindness in their heart :)
It makes me warm and happy.

Massive necropost here but I just thought of something to put here.
Something that made me smile so much was this: Featuring the epic Cannibal Corpse fan in his wheelchair.
It's great that there are people who can respect and celebrate those who are different in their own way. :)

last semester one of my palaeontology lecturers mentioned Avatar when she was talking about flying reptiles :)

I've seen a few of these, they always make me smile. A proof of how metalheads look out for their own too :)

At knife training, one of the icebreakers was to ask our fellow trainees some questions about themselves, one of which was "what is your favorite movie?" :D I was happy to be able to say Avatar for once and not expect loads of criticism like I have come to in the film dept at my school. A few of my contemporaries even said that they loved it :D
